Takes place after the North Pole scene in "Phantom Planet"

Family Quirks

It took a little sorting out to finally get a ride back home, and it was a long ride home.

Not just because they were coming from the center of the north poll either, but because Danny also had a lot of explaining to do, but, thankfully, Sam, Tucker and Jazz were there to help him out.

He'd honestly never thought he'd been so happy to see his house when they finally touched down. However, as everything seemed to finally be returning to normal, his mother called for a family meeting and reminded him just how normal it was going to be.

"Grounded?" Danny demanded, as his parents folded their arms and glared at him sternly, "You've gotta be kidding, I just saved the world, I'm a freaking hero. How am I grounded?"

"And no one is more proud of you, for that, then us," His mother announced, "But you've not only lied to us for over a year, but you also crashed the Fenton jet. I think grounding you is the least we can do."

"But – what?" He countered, trying to figure out where he lost control of this situation.

"It's the principle of the action," She proclaimed, causing him to deflate in his chair, "I don't want my son to get accustomed to lying," She added, leaving him to just gap at her like a fish, honestly unable to even speak at this point.

"But – you – I –" He blathered, before turning to glare at his sister, hoping for a little back up.

"Don't look at me," She informed him, "I didn't like you keeping secrets either."

"Traitor," He growled, causing her to laugh.

"Danny," His mother stated sternly and he winced, before turning to look at her, "We are not punishing you because you've saved the world, or kept secrets, or even doing dangerous things – though that is part of it. We are punishing you because lies are not told in this household."

The only answer she got this time around was for him to level his face into the table and mutter something none of them could hear.

"What was that?" Jack asked, leaning in closer in an attempt to make out his words, causing Danny to sigh, before moving his head, so his chin was resting on the table.

"How long?" He grumbled sourly.

"I'd say at least a month," His mother answered, causing him to freak all over again.

"A month?" He repeated dramatically.

"Shall we make it two?" She countered, causing the world-renowned hero of the entire planet to cringe.

"No," He answered quietly, though he still couldn't figure out how he'd managed to be born into the only family on earth who would ground him after what he'd just accomplished.

Even 'strange family quirks' couldn't explain that kind of bad luck.

lol

Poor Danny

Just a short little one shot I've had in mind for a little while.

I thought it was funny.
