A drabble-esque reflection on Jessica's names for Aubrey. As per usual, I own nothing. I'm only now catching back up on Bones and Aubrey piques my interest - I have no idea if they're together right now on the show or not, but in this ficlet they're an item, though a fairly new one. Rated for suggestive language.

'Superman' is for when she wants to play it cute, but not sexy. It has a hint of sweetness yet isn't saccharine, and works equally well when deployed one-on-one or in front of others. It pairs best with a compliment or saucy observation.

'Agent' (or, even better, 'Special Agent') is reserved for seduction. It's the hottest job title in the world, and she studs the word with embers when she speaks it aloud. When delivered in a low voice and accompanied by pressing breasts or hips into him, she's nearly guaranteed a hard-on in response.

'James' is the one she hasn't quite gotten used to the taste of. It feels right in loud moments – yelling it when he infuriates her, or crying it out when his long fingers and warm tongue push her over the edge. But somehow it also seems right in the quietest of moments – crossing her lips over and over again in his hospital room, barely audible over the beeps of his heart monitor, or whispered down to him in her apartment where he sleeps on her couch with his head in her lap, her fingers making lazy circles in his dark hair.

When she calls him Superman he looks at her like she's made of spun glass. When she calls him Special Agent his eyes consume her, drink her in like a strawberry shake. She's not sure how to describe what his eyes do when she calls him James, but she knows her own give her away.

Couldn't get this idea out of my head, nor manage to build a longer fic around it; I hope you enjoyed regardless.
