S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters was in a state of organised chaos when Thor walked through the doors one Thursday morning. Agents and admins were talking into their headsets in tense, hurried tones as they sped about the room. A crowd of agents, several of whom were holding impressive looking guns and dressed in full sting armour, was converging around the wide doorway to Agent Coulson's private office. As he stared, Clint emerged from a door on the other side of the room, armed with his favourite bow, and strode into the midst of the crowd, disappearing into the sea of black.

Not bothering to fight his curiosity, Thor marched over to see what the commotion was about. Most moved aside upon hearing his deep voice calling for them to let him through, those who did not were roughly set aside as he muscled his way through. As he reached the front he shifted so that he was standing at the side of the double doorway, out of the way of the guns' trajectories, before turning to peer into the room. The cause of the disruption was definitely not what he expected to see.

Loki was seated behind the desk, leaning back into the comfortable leather office chair, his arms folded against his chest. The computer in front of him was emitting a constant stream of soft squawking noises and cast a soft glow over his face that made his blank expression seem more severe. A dozen angry, red lasers were converging into a single shivering blob on his forehead but Loki paid them no mind, utterly preoccupied with whatever was on the screen.

An awkward stillness prevailed, no one quite sure what to do about the situation. The God of Mischief continued staring at the screen, unmoving, until his expression seemed to spontaneously soften into what appeared to be some form of awe before he burst into uproarious laughter. As quickly as it had arisen, his laughter faded away leaving his face as blank as it had been previously. Finally deigning to acknowledge the crowd in the doorway, Loki turned his attention to them and sighed.

"There are over seven billion humans on Midgard. How is it that a small enclosure of penguins manages to be more interesting than all of them?" Loki turned his intense gaze back to the computer monitor.

Thor stared.

He heard muttering from somewhere behind him and a moment later an arrow shot through the room, embedding itself in the wall by the chair.

Loki was already gone leaving behind nothing but the sound of frantic chirping from the speakers.

I don't know why this came into my head, apart from the fact that I know many people who have whiled away hours watching penguincam, and my discovery of it came around the same time that my obsession with Loki started to develop. I think it was funnier in my head but hopefully you have been left with an amusing mental image.

I haven't written in the Thor fandom before so I apologise wholeheartedly if I've made some silly mistake (I wasn't sure on the spelling of Coulsen's name, for instance). I haven't written in any fandoms for a while actually so I also apologise if my writing style is a little creaky and awkward.

Also, if you haven't seen penguincam: ustream (dot) tv/penguincam - check it out, it's awesome. I've wasted so much time just watching these little guys. It's only online until the end of March so chop-chop.

That's all from me, until next time. Tally-ho!
