Chapter one
A new home
Megan sat on a couch in her living room, tears in her reddish brown eyes, long black hair hung against her back. A few moments ago, a police man knocked on the door, telling her the bad news. There was a high speed chase that involved a motor bike, yellow and black custom cameo, and two purple sports cars. Her Mother was killed in an accident when she tried to swerve away. Meagan now waited for her foster parent to come pick her up. She got up to answer the door.
"Megan Parker I assume?" said a man in a suit and tie. He was darker skinned and had a round belly. Megan nodded.
"Yes sir."
"My name is William Fowler; I'll be your legal guardian. Get your stuff." Megan nodded and got her bags that were by the door, and then followed the man to the car. Fowler opened up the trunk so Megan can put her bags in. She got into the passenger seat and watched as they drove off.
The girl watched the scenery as they drove to the next town, Jasper Nevada.
"You will be going to Memorial High with my daughter, Skylar she's your age, and you will be sharing rooms."
"Ok," said Megan.
A few minutes later, Megan sat on her bed; across the room was another bed. Megan was holding the necklace her dad gave her before he disappeared three years ago. She was really close to her dad, and she missed him with all her heart. Her mind wandered to the last day she saw him.
Megan was watching TV when her dad called her. She grinned and ran to him. Her dad was away on business a lot, and Megan loved any moment she got with him.
"Daddy!" she said as she hugged him. Her dad smiled and hugged her back.
"Hey Princess." he said. Princess is his nickname for her. "I need to go away for a while; I don't know when I'll be back. But I got you something." He put a necklace around her neck. Megan looked at it, the necklace was the same symbol as her dad's tattoo .
"I love it Dad, thank you." she said with a grin. Her dad smiled back, and hugged her tight.
"I got to go now my princess, I'll miss you. Promise you'll stay safe and don't forget me.
"I promise Dad, I'll miss you too, but do you have to go?" she asked.
He shook his head. "No, I must go, there are a few things I must do."
"Ok, bye dad."
"Goodbye my princess, and keep that necklace on."
"Ok" said Megan as she watched her dad leave for the last time.
She was jolted to reality as a girl walked into the room.
The girl casually looked over Megan, or at least, tried to look casual. The sympathy in her eyes could not be hidden, as she took in the sad scene before her. "Megan?" Her voice was soft, as the teenager pushed her short hair out of her eyes. Her skin was slightly lighter than her father's, but still dark. She looked on the other girl with worry, concerned for her. "Dad sent me in to check on you."
"I'm okay, I was thinking about my parents and how much I miss them." Megan tucks the necklace under her shirt. "My mom and I never got along too well; I was always a daddy's girl." Megan sighed. "It's been three years since I last saw him before he left us." Megan got up and began unpacking the bags. "I'm guessing you're Skylar?" she asked the girl in the room.
The girl nodded, her ice-colored eyes on Megan. "That's me." She put her hands in the pockets of her jacket. "Are you feeling okay enough to eat…?" Ever so slightly, she shifted.
"I already ate. We stopped at KO burger on the way. Thanks anyway." Megan smiled at the girl. "So, what's the school like? And anyone I should avoid?" Megan asked, trying to lighten the mood.
"It's pretty good. The classes are decent, but the teachers are really strict." Skylar shrugged. "And I would avoid a guy named Vince, and a girl, Sierra. Vince won't hesitate to attack you, and Sierra is the stereotypical popular girl. Pretty, acts sweet, is one of those who talks crap behind your back."
Megan nods. "Got it. So, what kind of things do you like to do?" She sits on the bed, crossing her legs. Megan figured it was best to get to know Skylar, especially since they will be roommates.
Skylar sat on her own bed. "Well, I'm… good with technology, so I'm in a… computer programming club, after school." Immediate guilt flooded her at lying. "I just joined today."
It had been her first time meeting the Autobots, robots from a distant planet. Upon hearing how Megan's mother had died, Skylar was mortified. Her mother had been killed by the Autobots, had died because of those who fought to preserve life.
"Cool. I'm more into art. And sports. Speaking of which, any karate classes? My old town I'm in one. I already got my black belt." Megan smiles at that, which soon fades. "My dad taught me how to fight. I miss them, my parents." Megan quickly wipes the tear that has fallen.
Skylar fell silent. "I'm sorry… He isn't my real father, either." Her voice softened. "Until I was five, my biological parents were abusive. My father insulted my mother, and beat her until she passed out." Slowly, Skylar took off her jacket, turning and revealing the scars on her back that peeked from behind her white tanktop. "When I was six, they sent Dad to my house, because my father was suspected of running a drug ring. He saw the state I was in, and took me in." She shivered at the memory.
Megan gave Skylar a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry, I don't know what it's like, my dad was at work a lot, but he never hurt us." Megan thought about showing Skylar her necklace, a warning in her mind stopped her, so instead she stepped to give Skylar a hug. The light in the room, made Megan's eyes look almost red.
Instinct made Skylar hesitate, but she returned the girl's hug. For a second, the redness of her eyes made her freeze. It was almost like the hue of the Decepticons.. Hm. Maybe it was the curtains turning the light weird colors. Ah, well.
Megan smiled. "On the bright side, I already have a friend." She sat on
the bed.
"We should probably get to bed, we got school in the morning." Megan, who isn't shy, changed into her pajamas, her necklace sparked in the light. It was a purple symbol, one Skylar seen before.
It was the same symbol that adorned her own body, her Cybertronian form, situated in the center of her chest. The Decepticon symbol. When next she spoke, Skylar's voice was choked. "Nice necklace," she said, "Who gave it to you?" Fear coursed through her, her blue eyes barely concealing her fear. Her skin paled considerably.
"My dad did, right before he disappeared." Megan says, pulling out a photo album out of one of her bags. She then looks at Skylar, seeing her fear. "What's wrong?"
"Oh, nothing, It just reminded me of something I once saw." Skylar turned away, quickly changing into her pajamas. "Night, Megan. Sleep well."
Megan shrugged, and got into bed, dreaming her father came back and took her home.
Try as she might to sleep, Skylar's nightmares were haunted by that symbol, and the beings who wore it, who had tried to kill her. Something was off about Megan- something that Skylar was determined to find out.
