Chapter 1
The Night
"Tenten."
"Hmm?"
"Tenten. Look at me."
I hear apprehension in his voice. I turn to look at him. "What is it, Neji?"
"I'm leaving Tenten."
"What? You must be joking." I knew he wasn't joking. He never jokes.
"You know I'm not, Tenten. I'm leaving. I don't know how long."
"..."
"Tenten?"
"When?"
"Now." Neji walks over to me and embraces me. "I know it's sudden but I must do my duty as a shinobi." He kisses my forehead and disappears with the wind.
"Neji!" I wake-up screaming.
It's been one year exactly since that day. A quick look at the clock reviles it to be 6:03 in the morning. It's time to get up even if I don't want to. I do my usual routine and head out. I reach my destination. The only place I want to be today. The place that makes feel closer to him somehow, our old training grounds, as if, he'll just come strolling along with his hands in his pockets and have a no-nonsense attitude. God, I miss him but as a kunoichi I must keep to my duties. So I train and train and train some more until my hands are raw and the sun is high in the sky. Sweaty, dirty, and hurting I go home.
I hop in the shower letting the warm water loosen my muscles. I step out and as I meets the cool air, my body lets off steam. I look at it and it reminds me of Neji. There for a while yet was blown away by the wind.
Wind? Wait. I shouldn't be feeling wind. I never opened the window. I feel the presence of another chakara when my world goes black.
Neji pov
It had been one year to the day that I have been gone. I wonder if I will get to see her today. I know she will be well and probably with another man. She always was a looker. God, I miss her but my duty as a shinobi was far greater then the love I feel for Tenten. I wonder where she is now.
I had just finished reporting to Tsunade-sama when it hit me. A bad feeling and I think it has something to do with Tenten. I quickly make it to Tenten's house by using the roofs. I turn the knob to her front door to find it unlocked. 'How careless of her.'
"Tenten!" No response. "Tenten are you here?" Still nothing. I run upstairs to find the window open with a sticky note on it.
I have Tenten. If you don't do exactly as I say, she will die . But if you corporate I will let her go unharmed . You need to take your Hokage 's necklace and bring it to me on the third day of the Sakura festival . I will be waiting in the tower until the clock strikes midnight . If you don't come the Weapons Mistress will be killed . Come alone .
