There was a small group of people standing outside of the Xavier Institute for gifted children. They were all watching a slick black car pull up. An old friend of Charles' had called in a favor. That favor was for him to take in his little sister for a while. The welcoming committee consisted of Charles, Logan, Rogue, Kitty, Jean, Scott, and Kurt.
The black car stopped at the front of the mansion. A short man, whose skin looked vaguely green, got out of the car. He ran and opened the back door of the car. When the door was opened a very attractive yet intimidating man got out. He was extremely tall with long silvery white hair. He was wearing an expensive looking white business suit. When he saw the group he said "Charles, this Sesshomaru thanks you for taking in his sister."
"Sesshomaru it's been a while. How is Kagome?" Charles asked him.
"She is fine. She is not happy to be here, but she is well." Sesshomaru said.
Then from the inside of the back of the car "Hi Charles! But I can take care of myself Sessh. Let's just go back home. No need to trouble Charles."
"No Imouto you are staying. He will not be able to track you here. Now get out of the car." The last part was a demand.
"No! I won't." Kagome yelled out.
Everyone heard Sesshomaru growl, it sounded like a real dog, who was really mad. The X Men all took an unconscious step back. "You will get out of this car Imouto or I will force you out."
"NO!" this one was a bit more wary, but still determined.
Sesshomaru glared at the car "Jaken get her out here, now."
The small green man jumped into action "Yes Milord!" He scrambled into the car to get Kagome out. Seconds later Jaken flew out of the car with a yelp.
"Nice try, but for how long have I been beating Jaken? I was able to beat him before I got my powers. Puh-lease! That was an insult." Kagome did indeed sound insulted.
Suddenly a long green whip came from Sesshomaru's fingertips. 'That must be his mutant powers' the kids plus Logan thought. He launched the whip into the car and a yelp of surprise came from inside of the car. Then moments later a struggling girl was pulled from the backseat. Her appearance shocked everyone, except Charles of course. She was dressed like a normal teenager, jeans and a casual tee-shirt, that much was normal. The rest of her not so much. She had bright blue eyes flecked with gold, strange for a person of Japanese descent. She had long black hair, Shorter than Sesshomaru's, with silvery white highlights in it. Sitting on top of her head were two fluffy dog ears. She also had a long black tail. She looked like a human dog. Once she was outside of the car Jaken shut the door and Sesshomaru's whip let her go.
What shocked the X Men the most was where the whip had grabbed her she was smoking lightly. Her skin was a bright red and her clothes looked singed. "Ow that hurt Sessh."
Sesshomaru smiled softly at her "You should have been able to avoid that. You've gone soft, that is why you are here."
Kagome glared at Sesshomaru "Well I didn't expect you to use your whip. Did you have to infuse it with your poison?" The kids were astonished that anybody would do that to their younger sister.
"It was a low dosage, just enough to burn slightly. You should have moved faster."
"Yeah, fine, whatever you big dog. What am I supposed to do here again?"
Jaken spoke up "Stupid girl you are to blend in with the humans while going to school and training with the X Men."
Kagome blanched "Wait a minute! I have to go to school? Why do I have to go to school? How is that going to make me less soft?"
Sesshomaru smirked at her "This is your punishment for losing that bet last month. It will also help you blend in more."
"Blend in? How do you expect me to blend in with dog ears and a tail?" Kagome asked incredulously.
Charles stepped in "We have that covered Kagome. You will be using the same device that Kurt is currently using. Please show her Kurt."
One of the boys smiled "Sure professor." He did something with the watch that was on his wrist and suddenly he wasn't a normal looking teenager. He was very blue and he had a long tail. Kagome thought that he looked slightly fuzzy.
While she was distracted Jaken had gotten her bags from the trunk and put them by her. Then Sesshomaru said "Have fun Imouto." With that he got back into the car and locked the doors.
Before Jaken got back into the car he snarled at Kagome "Stupid wench don't do anything to disgrace my Lord." He turned around to start back to the car. In doing so he missed Kagome's ears going flat on her head in anger. Before he could take another step Kagome kicked him as hard as she could. He went flying and landed right by the driver's door. Jaken quickly got into the car to avoid her anger and drove away.
If looks could kill Sesshomaru's car would be up in flames. "But I don't want to go to school!" Kagome yelled after the fast disappearing car.
Kagome's phone chimed and she pulled it out to see the text. Kitty who had become curious read it out loud "Too bad." Kitty's eyes got big "How in the world did he hear you?" She exclaimed very loudly. Kagome visibly flinched and her ears went flat to her head again. Kitty missed it, but everyone else saw and felt bad for the girl. With ears like those she must have really good hearing and loud things like Kitty's loud voice must hurt.
Then Kagome's phone chimed again. Kagome read the text and scoffed "Show off." She then held the phone to Kitty to read.
She read it out loud once more "I simply have excellent hearing." Everyone was astonished at that one. The car had been no more than a speck in the distance when Kitty had asked that.
Charles moved in front of Kagome and addressed the rest of them. "Now that your curiosity is sated why don't you go wait for Kagome in the mansion? I need to speak to Kagome alone for a moment along with Logan." The teenagers groaned, but followed his directions. Once the five high schoolers where out of sight Charles turned to Kagome "Hello Kagome, how have you been?"
To Logan it seemed like Kagome completely switched personalities because she suddenly squealed and jumped to hug Charles. "Oh Uncle Charles! I've missed you!" She looked at him teasingly "I don't have to go looking for a new God Father anytime soon do I?"
Charles looked at her like a doting grandparent would "No, you're stuck with me for a few more years yet Kagome."
A genuine smile appeared on Kagome's face "Well that is good to hear. I actually like you, unlike most of those other God Father's that Sesshy had found for me."
Logan couldn't hold back anymore "What is going on Charles?"
Charles turned an understanding look at Logan "You are right Logan, some things need to be explained." He turned to Kagome "With your permission I would like to bring Logan into the secret. Maybe he could end up as your next God Father?"
A calculating look appeared on Kagome's face. She detached herself from Charles and seemed to dissect Logan. "Why would he be a candidate for my next God Father?" She seemed honestly confused. Logan didn't seem to be the type of person to fit the criteria that Sesshomaru always looks for.
"Well he has a slightly longer lifespan than most Kagome, so he would be able to keep up with you." Charles explained.
Logan was completely confused, he had no idea what was going on. What secret were they talking about? Why were they talking about making him a God Father, without considering him? Don't most people have just one God Father? And why would his long lifespan help this kid? "Charles?" He growled out in a question.
"Kagome?" Charles asked for permission.
"Sure I don't see why not if you trust him." She turned to Logan "But if you tell anyone EVER you will regret ever being born."
Obviously not believing her Logan snorted "Yeah alright kid."
Kagome's eyes narrowed at the term. "I am NOT a kid." She growled at him.
Charles cut in before things got violent. "She is right Logan she is not a kid. She is actually older than you are." Logan looked at Charles like he was crazy "It's true, Kagome will be turning 520 this year I do believe." Kagome nodded her head at him. "To be honest Logan she is not a mutant, she is a half dog demon." He turned to Kagome "I think it would be best if you told him, it is your history."
"Sure alright, you got anywhere we can sit down?" Kagome asked.
"Of course, follow me." Charles took them to a gazebo in a pretty garden. "You can begin Kagome, I will let you know if anyone is coming."
"Thanks Charles I appreciate it." She turned to Logan "You have to promise not to tell anybody."
Logan was silent for a moment then simply said "Your business is your business, nobody else needs to know."
A smile appeared on Kagome's face "That is a great answer." I thoughtful look appeared on her face. "Where to begin? I guess it would have to be the day that I turned fifteen. Worst birthday ever." She gave him a devilish smile "To let you know I actually only turned fifteen five years ago."
Now Logan was even more confused "I thought you said you were 520? How can you turn fifteen five years ago?"
"That is the funny thing about time travel, things don't always make sense." I sullen look showed up on her face, but she brushed it away "Anyway I was looking for the family cat, I finally found it in our family's shrine's well house. I was born with a very important item in me. It is called the Shikon jewel. My Miko powers were awoken that day and a centipede demon from the past pulled me into the dried up well. I appeared 500 years in the past, not the best day. I had found Inuyasha, a half dog demon like myself, pinned to a tree. Oh right, at this time I was just an ordinary human middle school girl. I was then kidnapped by the village I later thought of as my second home. The centipede demon attacked the village and I ran away because the demon was after me. I ended up back by Inuyasha, the villagers were adamant that I do not release him. But it was either free Inuyasha or get killed by a centipede demon 500 years in the past. So I freed Inuyasha. He killed the centipede demon after it ripped the Shikon jewel out of my side. Then he turned on me as he wanted the Shikon jewel as well. He also mistook me for his old lover Kikyo, it turns out I was her reincarnation. A few days later I accidentally shattered the Shikon jewel while trying to get it back from a crow demon that had taken it. That started a very long and dangerous journey to collect all of the shards of the Shikon jewel.
"Shortly after I was kidnapped by an evil witch. She used my soul, graveyard soil, and Kikyo's ashes to bring Kikyo back to life. I managed to get most of my soul back, thankfully. Yet she ended up keeping a portion of it. She ended up escaping and we continuously ran into her during out travels, unfortunately. Near the end of our journey she truly died again and my soul returned to me.
"Along the way we also met Inuyasha's older half-brother Sesshomaru. A small fox demon child Shippo. A perverted Monk Miroku, he was also a very devious con-man. And a demon slayer Sango and her demon cat partner Kirara. We formed a group and started looking for the shards.
"We learned that we were not the only one that was looking for the Shikon jewel. There was an evil half spider demon by the name of Naraku who was looking for the jewel. A lot of our group and allies had grudges against him. Inuyasha had a grudge because Naraku had killed Kikyo. Miroku's family was cursed with a wind tunnel in his hand, it was a black hole that sucked everything in. If the curse was not stopped in time the wind tunnel would eventually consume him. Sango's entire village was killed by Naraku and her younger brother was made a puppet. Another person we had met was the wolf prince of the east Koga. His clan was also killed by Naraku, only a select few survived, Koga wanted revenge for his clan. Sesshomaru who was extremely cold to everybody formed a soft spot for a human child Rin. Naraku had kidnapped Rin and that made Sesshomaru very angry.
"Then for a year and a half we went all over Japan searching for jewel shards. There were tons of hard battles. I got kidnapped more times than I can count. I was forced into hard situations and manipulated by the enemy to fight against my friends. I have also been possessed a few times. Along the way Sesshomaru also seemed to find a soft spot for me as well. At the time it was unfortunate for me, he chose to show his affections by training me with a sword. Those were the worst three months of my life. He practically kidnapped me and held me against my will at his castle for three months until he deemed me worthy to hold my own against most. I became very proficient with a bow, it was the easiest medium to use my powers.
"Then came the final battle, Shippo and Rin were left back at the village so they would be safe. Me, Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, Sesshomaru, Koga, and two of his followers Ginta and Hakkaku were the people to finally face Naraku. It was a very long and hard battle, we were fighting for a day and a half and everyone was exhausted. We were winning, that is until the first of us went down. The first to fall was Sango, sadly she was killed by her younger brother who she couldn't bear to kill. Once he killed her Naraku released him, he was alive long enough to see what he had done to his sister. Then Naraku killed him by taking the jewel shard out of his neck, it had been keeping him alive. The next to go was Miroku, he was consumed by his wind tunnel. Inuyasha had gone into a blind rage after those two died and I couldn't get him to calm down. He lost his focus and Naraku killed him with one of his tentacles through the heart. The last to die was Hakkaku, he died protecting Koga. Both Koga and Ginta were knocked unconscious by a blast of miasma. It was down to Sesshomaru and myself, honestly we weren't sure if we were going to win or not. It went on for a few more hours, but finally Sesshomaru sent an attack at him with his sword and I infused his attack with one of my arrows. It finally killed him, he was purified by the power in my arrow.
"I was then able to complete the Shikon jewel. The stupid stone asked me to make my wish. I could've made a number of wishes. I could have wished for the lives of my friends back, or wished for Naraku to never of been born, maybe I could have wished the jewel out of existence. The thing is a pure wish was the only thing that would finally destroy it. I told the jewel that I had no wish, for now wish is a pure wish for you would always be looking for something. Then I doomed myself, I told it that I would rather protect it forever than make a wish on it. Midoriko appeared in front of me, she was a soul that was trapped inside of the jewel. She had told me that I had chosen correctly, but I was to still be punished for breaking the jewel in the first place.
"Midoriko then placed the jewel back inside of me, it sits right in the middle of my chest. She then told me that I have become the immortal protector of the jewel and that the jewel would disappear once I died, but since I became immortal I would be protecting it forever. I tried going home after that, but something went wrong. The well no longer worked, I was stuck 500 years in the past. Not knowing what to do I almost panicked, but Sesshomaru saved me. He had come back to the village to collect Rin when he saw me by the well. I explained everything to him and he immediately took me in. He eventually did a blood bond with me adopting me as his little sister. After I became a half demon I adopted Shippo as my son. Both Sesshomaru and I took care of Rin until she died, that was a sad day for all of us.
"We went through the years sticking together as a family, eventually blending in with the humans. Finally we got back to my original time period, in other words five years ago. Sadly I was just a bit too late. When I got to my shrine I found the remains of it along with the bodies of my mom and grandpa. I was in a panic for a half hour looking for my little brother. I finally found him at the bottom of the well that I had used so many times in my past. The silly boy had tried to get to me. He was thankfully still alive when I found him. I rushed him to Sesshomaru's and my house. He helped me heal Sota, he is now in hiding with Shippo. Shippo took the job of protecting Sota, ever the protective one he is.
"We have recently found out that an enemy that should be dead has somehow come back and he is looking for revenge, and the Shikon jewel. I have no idea how he did it, or why he has waited 500 years to strike. We had heard rumors, but we didn't believe any of them. There was no way that he was alive, we had watched him die. But then he appeared in front of us himself, well a puppet of himself. Naraku is back and we have to find a way to kill him again, he is much more powerful than he was 500 years ago. His puppet was as strong as the original was 500 years ago. The puppets that he uses have approximately 30% of his strength and power. That is why Sesshomaru sent me here, he wants me safe and out of the way until Naraku is dead once again. All because I have the stupid Shikon jewel. I found out when he appeared to us that he was the one that killed my family and burnt down my shrine."
Both Logan and Charles were shocked, some more than others. Charles had known the majority of her past. Her family's death and the return of Naraku were new to him. Logan didn't know how to take this whole thing, most of it seemed like fantasy. But the look in her eyes and the emotions that crossed her face while telling the story were all too real for the story to be a fake. "Why don't you just get rid of the jewel?" Logan asked thinking that would be the easiest route to take.
Kagome gave him a sad smile "That is the fail safe that Midoriko set up. Remember I said that the jewel will disappear when I die?" When they indicated that they did she continued "Well Midoriko placed the jewel in a place that if it is removed from me I will die, thus destroying the jewel. So if a demon gets the better of me and is stupid enough to remove the jewel, it will get the satisfaction of gaining the jewel for less a minute. I will die in less than a minute and the jewel will become useless. That is why Sesshomaru moved me here, he is unsure if Naraku knows the full truth about the jewel. He is afraid that he will attempt to get the jewel and in the process kill me."
"We will not let that happen Kagome, the X Men will protect you." Charles reassured Kagome.
"Thanks Uncle Charles, but I would honestly rather be out there hunting Naraku down." Kagome seemed to get really depressed for a brief moment then she forced herself into a better mood "Well I will answer one more question today, then I do believe I need to get acquainted with my new housemates."
Logan asked the least intimidating question for the moment, also the one that wouldn't build more questions "Why do you have a bunch of different God Father's?"
Kagome smiled at him "Even though I am more than old enough to take care of myself, I don't look it. So Sesshomaru sets up a failsafe incase anything would ever happen to him. He finds a person that he trusts completely and assigns them as my God Father. So if anything happens to him I would go to them. I could go to Shippo, which I have told him many times over, but he always says that he would not trust Shippo with the family pet. Shippo is a bit of a prankster, but he is a Kitsune so you have to give him a break, he knows when to be serious. Well most of the time. My current God Father is Charles here, I met him for the first time 40 years ago." Kagome then turned and started walking away "Well I'm going to introduce myself to the others in the house and unpack." She got comically depressed "Plus I have to get myself ready for school, I start in a week so at least I have a bit to get myself ready for it. Ugh I am 520 years old, I do not need to go to high school!" With that Logan and Charles watched Kagome storm off, acting like a normal high schooler.
