OK… so I really shouldn't listen to music while writing. This is aged up (so that late night partying and drinking is appropriate…so probably University age). I do not own Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, nor am I Billy Joel. (All of the looks, none of the talent).
It's the morning after a crazy party and Chloe had been extra-Chloe the night before, going out of her way to show off all the trinkets her father had bought her, putting down anyone else who could possibly outshine her. She'd started the evening drinking glasses of champagne, but abandoned the glass and spent most of the night carrying around a bottle of Dom Perignon.
She'd woken up that morning with her head on fire, and her eyes too bloody to see clearly. A cup (or several) of espresso later, and a good bitch to Jean Whomever (who whipped her up a hangover cure), and she was ready to face the day. That was until she walked into the courtyard of school, and headed to her first class. While none of the students there were usually worthy of her attention, they were usually polite enough to acknowledge her presence, but today, everyone just turned their backs and started whispering the moment they saw her.
A little put out, Chloe continued to class. It was then that she saw a golden blonde head in front of her. "Adri-kins!" she called, a little softer than usual, before launching herself at him. (The hangover cure was helping, but her head was still pounding, and the events of the night before were distinctly fuzzy).
With a practiced move, Adrien quickly side stepped and maneuvered out of her grasp. "Really Chloe? I'm impressed with your ability to be upright after last night!"
Chloe looked at him, "I just can't remember all the things that I said", she looked away, "and I'm not sure I want to know."
Adrien just sighed. "I'll give you one hint, Chloe, you sure did put on a show. You had to be a big shot, didn't you, you had to prove it to the crowd."
Chloe winced. Adrien rarely told her off, but he wasn't done with her yet, "You had to be a big shot didn't you… all your "friends" were so knocked out. No matter what the topic, or who was speaking, you had to have the last word, last night. You had to make the front page bold type. You caused another Akuma victim, we're lucky it was only one!"
"You're usually so much fun to be around, Adrien! Those people deserved it, I'm sure. I was just giving them the benefit of my wisdom!"
Adrien leaned closer to her, his eyes flashing coldly, "Well, it's no big sin to stick your two cents in if you know when to leave it alone, but you went over the line, you couldn't see it was time to go home. No…. you had to be a big shot, didn't you. You had to open up your mouth. Well, you have the white hot spotlight. Enjoy your time in the spotlight all to yourself".
With that, he turned on his heel and walked away… leaving Chloe to deal with whatever she'd said last night on her own.
