Chapter 1

Fionna jumped when the door slammed shut and Cake walked in with a frown placed upon her lips. She looked like she had a rough day or something, but she was afraid to directly ask. "Hey...?" Fionna said in more of a questioning matter. She couldn't remember the last time she had saw her sister in this bad of a mood.

Cake sighed and fell onto the couch, "Hey Babycakes." She mumbled, closing her eyes. Her appearance looked utterly exhausted. She looked at Fionna and gave her a smile to show she was really alright. She didn't want to have her worrying over nothing.

Fionna looked at her confused. "Everything cool? You look like you had a bad day." She pointed out, noticing the bags under the cats eyes.

Cake nodded, "I'm just tired from a long day that's all. Taking care of my growing babies is hard work." She sat up quickly and groaned, "Fionna, will you be the best sis in the world and get some food from PG? He told me to grab it but the thought completely crossed my mind." She asked, pleading softly.

Fionna stood and stretched, "Sure. I've been here all day and I haven't seen that gummy prince in a while. Bet he's doing good, hopefully Ice Queen hasn't kidnapped him this time." She stood and picked up her green backpack. Slinging it over her shoulder, she glanced at Cake who was slowly falling asleep on the couch. It made her smile a little.

"You're the best little sister in the entire world." Cake mumbled as she rolled on her side, her back facing Fionna. "Stay safe." She called as she heard Fionna close the door.

A cold chill crawled up Fionna's spine as she shook slightly; she guessed she should have brought a jacket. Without Cake, the trip down to the Candy Kingdom was much longer than she had expected. Noticing some fellow candy citizens, she gave a friendly wave to them. "Prince Gumball?" Fionna called looking around. She noticed Peppermint Maid walking her way and she smiled catching up to the small candy person.

"Oh Fionna, it's such a pleasure to see you!" Peppermint Maid chimed with a grin on her face. "What can I do for you?" She asked, balancing what looked like confusing cook books. Must've been Gumball's, she had to know where he was.

"Where's PG?" Fionna asked, getting straight to the point. She was tired and like Cake, she wanted to go to sleep. She wanted to go to bed as soon as possible.

She thought for a moment, "In the Music room I'm sure." She adjusted the books in her hands, hiding her frustration. How did that prince expect her to carry around these huge books? They were twice her size! Her thoughts were interrupted when Fionna spoke again.

"There's a music room?" The adventuress asked surprised. "I didn't know Gumball was in music. I thought he was only in that cooking stuff." She pointed out, noticing how every time he went to the tree house, he always cooked for the two. The food he cooked was delicious too!

The tasteful candy giggled, "Oh yes, he just hired a band actually." A blush formed on her cheeks, confusing Fionna slightly.

"Why does he need a band?" Fionna asked as they walked together down the long hallway. She kept a glanceful eye on the peppermint candy to make sure she didn't fall over or anything.

"Entertainment of course! And the lead singer isn't bad looking either," Peppermint Maid whispered with a much darker blush. "A bad boy who could make any girl fall in love with him." She explained.

Fionna couldn't help but laugh at that. Fall in love? Gross. "Do I know him?" She asked and was surprised when the maid shook her head. Fionna knew everyone. Who was this guy? "Are we almost there? Cakes probably worried." She rubbed the back of her neck, she knew Cake was passed out but she just really wanted to meet this new guy.

Peppermint Maid opened a door followed by a beautiful melody that sent far more chills up her spine than any snowstorm could do. "Have fun miss Fionna." She said, winking before walking away, gasping at herself as she almost dropped the stack of books.

What did she mean by that? Fionna pondered about it for a few short moments before a familiar voice called her name to get her attention. Turning, a dark blush spread across her cheeks as she watched Gumball walk over to her. "H-Hey Gumball. You busy?" She asked him, rubbing one of her arms embarrassed.

He swatted his hand dismissively, "Never for you my heroine! What shall I do for you?" He asked, his pearl, white teeth gleaming as he smiled at her. He seemed very excited for some reason.

Fionna swallowed hard and took a deep breath. "Food... Cake sent me for some, said you had some to bring back to the tree house." She said and crossed her arms, hoping she wasn't blushing too badly.

The Gumball Prince nodded, "I do! I'll go get it right now for you. Just stay put and I'll be right back." He chimed and walked out of the room with a bigger smile.

Watching him leave, Fionna noticed a soft melody was playing in the background. She looked around and noticed a plaid shirt, dark blue jeans and red converse. Her eyes traveled up and then her eyes widened.

Mid-length black hair, light blue skin, two fangs exposed from his lips. His blood-red eyes met mine and he quit strumming his axe like bass. He wasn't like anyone she had seen before. Her heart sped more and her mouth went dry when he began floating over to her. She could definitely feel the blush on her cheeks now that he was here.

The stranger ran his thin fingers through that messy, black hair of his. It looked soft. "Hello there… Well aren't you a cute thing?" A smirk formed on his lips as he leaned closer, making eye contact with her, enjoying it as he watched her blush darken.

Fionna's eyes widened, she was cute? What was she supposed to say to that! She needed water, she felt like if she said something, nothing would come out. Her mouth slowly opened, "Hi." She managed to get out. What was wrong with her? She never reacted like this when Gumball was around.

He bent down to her height and smirked, "I don't think we've met before, I'd remember a girl like you. I'm Marshall Lee, the Vampire King, and who may you be?" He asked twirling the end of her blond bangs between his fingers.

"F-Fionna...the human..." Fionna stuttered. She pulled away, not wanting him to touch her hair. She was confused right now, she didn't know what to expect when it came to this strange creature.

"A human?" Marshall asked surprised. "I thought those died out a long time ago. Don't usually see those now a days." He pointed out and looked her over, now that he thought about it, she did look like a human.

Fionna looked down sadly; she knew she was alone when it came to her species. She hated it when people mentioned it; it would only remind her how alone she was. "Don't remind me." She mumbled softly.

Marshalls smirk widened, "Don't be sad Fionna the Human. You want a hug?" He asked, his hand running down her arm.

Fionna gasped and jerked away, pulling her sword out. She didn't like to be touched by strangers, especially ones that had already made her angry. "I'm not sad! Don't touch me or I swear I will kill you." She threatened with a serious face. Where in the world was Gumball? What was taking that Prince so long?

Marshall looked at the sword and shrugged, not afraid one bit. "Whatever you say, human girl. It's not healthy to keep all of those emotions in." He floated back over to his axe bass and strummed it, "I lay mine out with songs." He said and played a few notes.

Fionna looked at him confused and slowly put her sword away, "With music?" She asked slowly. How would that make her feel any better? Then People would know how she felt and start to worry about her, she didn't want that. She hated it when others worried more about her than themselves. That's how they get hurt.

Marshall nodded and gave her a fanged grin, "Of course. I'm sure you can do it if you try." He said as he floated back around her, strumming at his bass. He noticed her expression sadden a bit more and frowned lightly.

Fionna shook her head, "I can't sing. That's out of the question…." She mumbled, looking down at her shoes as she tried to ignore him being so close to her. Gumball really needed to hurry up or she'd kill him. She really would.

Marshall leaned close to her with a soft smile, "I'm sure you can, if you try." He repeated with a soft whisper. He gave a huge smirk when seeing goose bumps rise on her neck, her body going stiff. He was really enjoying this; she was so easy to mess with.

A relieved sigh escaped her lips when the large doors finally reopened and Gumball walked in with bags of food. She noticed Marshall back away slightly. As Gumball neared closer, Marshall moved back to his original spot. Gumball noticed Marshall was staring at them and sighed. "I hope he didn't bother you Fionna." He whispered softly. "I know how he can be sometimes."

Fionna accepted the bags with a smile, "It's alright PG. I've seen worse." She lied. She knew he must have done something to her, making her react that way to him. Maybe he was a wizard, casting a love spell or something while she wasn't looking. She'd figure it out; he was a case she had never dealt with before. She'd survive though, against this Marshall Lee.

Gumball nodded, "that's good. I was worried for a second, should have known you'd be fine though." He laughed lightly, his smile returning. "Lord Monochromicorn is waiting for you outside; he'll be the one taking you back home." He gave her a wave as she began leaving. "Have a safe trip!"

Fionna nodded and gave a glance at Marshall who was still staring at her. The look he was giving her made her blush even darker. She shook it off and rushed out of the room and out of the large castle. Her cheeks cooled down as the wind blew against her. She noticed the long black horse waiting for her and she smiled. "Nice seeing you again."

The horse nodded and bent down so she could get on. Once he knew she was on, he lifted up in the air and began flying towards the tree house. He was silent the entire time through the flight.

"I still don't get why Cake and PG are the only ones who can understand you." Fionna said softly as she hugged the bags of food. She laughed lightly when he snorted at her. "Alright, ill leave you alone." She said with a soft smile, remaining quiet for the rest of the ride to the tree house.
