1 The Darkness
A figure ran down a street of New York City. She ducked into an ally to catch her breath. She could hear the group of people getting closer. She whipped the sweat from her forehead. She changed into a cat. It was getting easier now. It didn't hurt to change into a cat anymore. She leapt up onto a trashcan and watched as the crowd ran by. She let out a sigh of relief and continued farther down the ally.

Professor Charles Xavier looked up from his book as a red light flashed and the voice of Cerebro spoke.
" Mutant signature detected. Locating...Name. Karilyn Creed. Age. 15 years. Gender. Female. Location. New York City, New York. Transferring picture.." Xavier waited as the the picture of the new mutant uploaded. The picture showed a rather tall girl.She had long blonde hair and her body was covered with brown fur. Along with catlike ears on her head she had a long tail. Her eyes were bright green and the pupils were narrow slits. Ororo. Logan. Please come to the library. I have a new mutant to discuss with you.
A few minutes later Xavier had talked about the new mutant to Ororo and Logan. He had chosen not to say who he suspected the mutant's father was.
Logan started up the X-van. Ororo looked over the printed out information of the mutant.
" On to New York City, Logan." Logan rolled his eyes and the the van started to move forward.

Kari curled up in a pile of garbage. She shivered. She stayed in the form of a cat all day and it had drained a lot of her energy.
" Abandoned. Lost. Forgotten." Kari muttered as she fell asleep. Little did she know that people who would not abandon, lose, or forget her were coming.
