Davis finally finished reviewing and submitting the After Action Reports from the North Korea op last week. When a mission goes right, there's already a lot of paperwork to handle afterwards, but when they go sideways, like that one did, the after affects seem endless. She'd spent the better part of the week intentionally focusing on the job and trying not to think about Sonny or what almost happened. She'd only seen him once since the guys returned state side, during a short visit to the hospital where he'd been immediately transported as soon as the plane hit the tarmac. He was still a little out of it and not in a talkative mood at the time, not that she expected him to speak to her anyway, so she didn't press anything.

Sonny was discharged two days later and went straight home for some actual rest the remainder of the week. By now he was stir crazy in his apartment, but was still not up for the bar or strip club scene. He saw the text from Davis earlier today, 'I'm here if you need anything', but didn't respond to it. He knew he was being selfish about the whole OCS thing, but that wasn't making the thought of her leaving any easier. Sonny owed her an apology, he just didn't think she would be open to hear it, not after the way he acted. Maybe was too late for an apology.

Trying to relax a little now, Davis had settled into her couch with a book and a beer hoping to keep her mind clear. That was, until she heard a knock at her front door. She considered not answering it, more than likely it was just a neighbor needing a favor, but Davis wasn't the type to leave someone hanging like that. She marked the spot in her book and laid it down on the coffee table in front of her, then walked towards the door. She pulled it open just enough to see who was there, then opened it the rest of the way when she realized it was Sonny. Davis took a firm stance in the opening, one hand on the door and one on the frame; she was tense upon seeing him standing there.

He stared at Davis longingly for a moment, unsure how to begin telling her everything that he needed to. Really seeing her for the first time since the sub was more overwhelming than he'd expected and he was at a loss for words. Sonny could tell that she wasn't entirely happy to see him at her apartment, but she hadn't slammed the door in his face yet, so he was taking that as a good sign.

She looked at Sonny and sighed, "I think you're at the wrong apartment."

A sadness came over him, but Sonny wasn't ready to give up yet. He gave her an apologetic look and slowly shook his head, "No, I'm not."

With Sonny, who wore his heart on his sleeve, but also didn't know how to express his emotions, less was more. Davis understood what he was saying; he was right where he was supposed to be. The tension in her subsided and she dropped her arms to her side as she stared back at him in silence. Sonny took a small step closer to her and attempted to speak again, but was abruptly cut off by Davis, who leaned forward to kiss him. Surprised and relieved, Sonny wrapped both arms around Davis and pressed himself against her. Holding him close Davis stepped back, taking Sonny with her into the apartment. Once they were both inside Davis kicked the door shut behind them.
