Ch.1 – Seaweed Dreams
Separated from her friends again, Kagome trudged through the forest. She had mastered archery and now also sported a sword Sango taught her how to use, She had figured out how to channel her miko energy into it. So at least she wasn't left defenseless. Unfortunately she tripped over a root and tumbled off a hidden ledge, crashing head-first into deep waters. Seaweed filled her vision before darkness took her. When she opened her eyes again, deep brown met sea-green, startled she flung her hands up to defend herself but the male caught them in his own and smiled at her. "I mean you no harm. I'm merely curious."
"Who are you? What are you? …Where am I?"
"This is my home." He gestures around the well-furnished room. "Welcome to the castle of the North."
"North!" She exclaims as she springs from the bed only to meet the floor.
"There is no need for alarm, little Nix." He picks her up and puts her back on the bed.
"What?"
"You are a water spirit are you not? You were sleeping among the seaweed."
"I'm not a spirit! I'm a miko! I accidentally fell off the Cliffside while searching for my friends."
"Oh, well it's a good thing I brought you to this castle and not the other one."
"There's two castles of the North?"
"The other one is underwater. Do you have a name miko?"
"…Kagome."
"Are you sure you're not a Nix, Kagome? When I found you, you were sleeping so peacefully, like an angel. I moved you because sharks were coming."
"I'm a human."
"Mikos are more thought of as angels, not humans."
"Well…um…"
"You may call me Sei." He smiles charmingly. "Come, you must meet my parents." He picks her up and carries her through the castle despite her protests. "Father, Mother, this is Kagome."
"So you have finally chosen. She is a powerful being, but the power is not at its full potential."
"Um… chosen what?" Kagome squeaks.
"Oh dear, she hasn't been told." A woman with sea-green eyes and long sky blue hair muses. "You see, you are the only female to catch the attention of our son. You are the only one he has ever brought home, so we're going to bind you to him."
"What! But I don't even know him! What about my friends? My family? You can't force me to stay a slave to him!"
"Oh goodness no. You are to be his bride. You can return to your friends and family. He will come for you when you are finished your time-traveling. Please stay the night with us and we will bring you to your friends in the morning."
"…b-but how do you know about my time-travelling?"
"I'm a seer, my dear. You are perfect for him. Now come." The lady tugged Kagome by the arm. "It is time for a bath." She practically drags the girl down the hall.
