Glinda nervously clung to Elphaba's hand as they trudged through the dark and filthy streets of the Emerald City on their way back to their hotel. It was drizzling and miserable, and Glinda found herself wondering why she'd ever agreed to come here. Elphaba slowed a little as they came closer to a figure looming out of the darkness, and Glinda flinched instinctively, fearfully—but it was nothing to worry about, just what appeared to be a very tired horse, hitched to a cab and tied to a hitching post, left alone while the driver warmed himself inside.
Glinda shivered as Elphaba tugged her warm hand out of Glinda's and stuck it into her pocket, feeling around for something. When it resurfaced, she had one of the peppermints they'd been giving out for Lurlinemas at the information booth of the last train station the girls had been to. Elphaba unwrapped the sweet and stepped closer to the weary-looking animal, proffering the mint on one outstretched green palm as she gently laid the other hand against his shaggy neck. The horse delicately lipped up the treat and crunched on it, sending the scent of peppermint wafting through the unkempt smell of the city street. The green girl smiled softly and stepped away, slipping her hand back into Glinda's.
"I didn't know you liked horses, Elphie," Glinda commented as they walked away. Elphaba merely shrugged, glanced back over her shoulder, and winked. Glinda turned to look too, and jumped when the Horse winked back.
