A Very AtoYuu Christmas

A short oneshot dedicated to Rain-chan, and my second attempt at AtoYuu, and the first attempt at AtoYuu that actually has Yuuta in it! XD I do hope this is adequate.

There was one thing Fuji Yuuta loved about Christmastime, one thing that made it all worthwhile - all the annoying Christmas carols and the last-minute Christmas shopping and the mistletoe that his brother hung up at every opportunity.

Fuji Yuuta loved his Christmas tree. It was the tree he had grown up with - a familiar sight in the Fuji household once December came along. Its decorations were kept in a cardboard box in a cupboard, carefully hidden away until they could be of use again.

Yes, the Christmas tree was the one thing about Christmas Yuuta really loved.

But here was Atobe Keigo, ruining it for him. And running through Yuuta's mind was this thought:

What an asshole.

'Yuuta,' Atobe said, sounding particularly officious, 'what is this?'

'My Christmas tree,' Yuuta grumbled - it didn't seem quite as awesome when there were people over to see it, especially people as rich as Atobe.

'...Who did you pay to decorate it? Because it wasn't worth the money you paid.'

Yuuta wanted to kick Atobe in the shins. 'I did.'

'You paid for it yourself? Well, you didn't choose a very-'

'-no,' Yuuta said with gritted teeth, 'I was the one who decorated it.'

'Oh.' Atobe paused. 'Then who paid you to do such a bad job of it?'

Yuuta really wanted to kick Atobe in the shins. 'Nobody.'

'Then why is it so ugly?' Atobe was entirely serious when he said this, which just made Yuuta regret ever inviting his boyfriend over for Christmas even more.

Yuuta decided he had to protest. 'It's not ugly!' he said, looking at his tree with a bit of fatherly love. It was a small tree, and a fake one at that - the Fuji family just put the fake tree back into its closet after each Christmas. The decorations were old - Yuuta had tried to eat one once when he was a baby, Yumiko liked to remind him, the reindeer with the gnaw marks on it - and the star on top was missing one point.

Atobe blinked. He looked very divided on what he wanted to say next. Then -

'Merry Christmas, Yuuta.' And a kiss on his cheek. 'I think I'll be taking back your present though - I'm going to buy you a new tree for Christmas. New decorations too. And that star has got to go.'

Yuuta sighed, but gave in - there were some arguments he'd never win.

Feeling particularly loyal, Yuuta added, 'You're not getting rid of this tree though.'

'We'll just have our own tree then,' Atobe said with a smile, making Yuuta feel all warm and fuzzy and not at all manly. It was moments like these that made dating Atobe worthwhile.

'With proper decorations - that reindeer is horrendous.'

'Hey! I like that reindeer!'

Well, it was nice while it lasted.
