A/N: I don't own Hetalia.
This was a little fic I wrote because I can totally see Fem!America being friendly with the suffragists.
In case anyone doesn't know, a suffragist was someone who wanted women to be able to vote. Susan B. Anthony was one of the most famous.
"It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the Union. And we formed it, not to give the blessings of liberty, but to secure them; not to the half of ourselves and the half of our posterity, but to the whole people -women as well as men."
-Susan B. Anthony
Susan B. Anthony sank down onto a wooden bench. She believed in woman's suffrage with every fiber of her being, but she was only human, and campaigning was tiring.
As she sat, a young woman approached. She looked to be about twenty years old, with sandy brown hair and blue eyes. Her dress was dark blue and was cut in the latest fashion.
She didn't hesitate to address the suffragist.
"Ms. Anthony?"
The older woman smiled kindly. "I am she, my dear."
"I just wanted to tell you that I agree with you completely and that I appreciate what you do for the women of this country. 'Men their rights, and nothing more; women their rights, and nothing less.'"
An eyebrow was raised. "You read our paper."
She smiled widely. "Only every week."
Anthony chuckled. "It's always good to meet a kindred spirit. If we all do our part, women are sure to win the right to vote. And you can call me Susan, dearie."
If it was possible, the woman's smile grew even wider. "I'm Amelia. Amelia F. Jones."
Susan B. Anthony died on March 13, 1906.
Fourteen years later, in August of 1920, the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote.
A/N: I know that, technically, Amelia is older than Susan, but a bystander wouldn't be able to tell that.
'Men their rights, and nothing more; women their rights, and nothing less.' was the motto of the suffragist newspaper The Revolution.
I think that I did more research for this little fic than I have done for any of my other stories!
