A/N: So I know this is a few days late, but this is a Sabriel Christmas fic. It's not anything special and it's really short because I wrote it at 2am.
Enjoy and review.
It was December 24. Christmas Eve. And once again, Sam was lying awake staring at the ceiling while Dean was snoring away in the bed next to him.
Sam rolled over onto his side and stared at the wall, waiting for sleep to come. He was exhausted but he couldn't close his eyes. Every time he did he would see the same image, as though it was burned permanently into his eyes.
The bright flash of white light, Gabriel lying lifeless on the ground with his wings burned into the ground on either side of him.
Sam squeezed his eyes closed as a tear fell down his cheek and he let out a sob that he tried to cover with a cough even though he knew Dean couldn't hear him.
He felt the bed dip next to him and he buried his face into his pillow.
"Go back to your own bed Dean, I'm fine." Sam said.
"Do you really think I'm going to believe that Samsquatch?"
Sam froze for a second at the voice and then sat up quickly to make sure his ears weren't playing tricks on him. He looked at the man sitting next to him and his mouth fell open slightly in shock as he took in the brown hair and honey golden eyes.
"Gabe?" I'm dreaming aren't I?"
"You dream about me often?" Gabriel retaliated, arching an eyebrow. "No, you're not dreaming. I don't know ho..."
Before Gabriel could finish his sentence, he had an arm full of Sam and a face full of that ridiculously wonderful brown hair.
"You really miss me that much?"
When Gabe didn't get an answer he just hugged Sam tighter. "Merry Christmas Sammy."
"M'rry Chris'mas." Sam said, his words slurring slightly out of exhaustion.
Gabe readjusted them on the bed so he was leaning against the headboard and Sam's head was resting on his shoulder. They sat like that for almost an hour before Sam's breathing finally evened out and he fell asleep.
Gabe lowered him onto his back and pulled the blanket back over him before lying down next to him and pulling Sam into his arms.
Half an hour later Dean rolled over and saw his brother sleeping peacefully and curled against Gabriel.
"It's about fricken time." he grumbled, rolling over and falling back to sleep.
