The Visible Unknown

By Gunnar Wentzel

The aliens around me slid down the sides of trees,

On their faces the expression of why now stilled,

The ignorant hate also stilled with their eyes,

Cold hands continue to gripped their weapons,

Their intent on killing me now evaporated with their life forces,

I climb over the bloodied rocks in fury,

Moving my way towards the exchange of weapon blasts,

Focused on reaching my fellow comrades in arms,

And putting an end to our enemies' anger,

Stepping out into the open I see the madness,

Looking onto the charred battlefield,

My enemies' backs were towards me,

With a grin on my face and flick of my hand,

I threw a grenade at their feet and watch panic pursuit after,

Screams exploded and weapons now lay quiet,

The battle here ended swiftly in a blink of an eye,

But for the battle of humanity I will continually gaze upon it.
