Black Knight

She doesn't know why she forgives him so easily. In reality, in the black and white classy movies she spent her Sunday afternoons viewing, she should have stormed off of the stage, and never seen or spoken of him ever again. Jesse st James was her first taste of what Broadway would be like- he had been the convincing, devious aging director, to her innocent, wide-eyed young actress. She had tumbled head over heels, fallen down the rabbit hole like Alice. She hadn't taken heed of the warnings her fellow Glee clubbers had given her, instead she preferred to allow herself to dream of a bright future, away from Lima and Finn.

It never came to fruition. Like so many dreams it ended in despair. If it hadn't happened to her, she would have regarded it as completely cliché. Jesse had broken her heart.

And now he is back right where she first allowed him to capture her heart, right back where it all started to become serious. He looks like perfection, and the desire to snatch him by the hand and run away from all the problems surrounding her is so great that she has to push it down inside her, swallowing the heavy lump suffocating her. How can he be back here, after everything that happened between them? How can he be so arrogant, so full of himself to think that he would just show up and she would fall back into his arms? She doesn't need him to save her; she isn't a damsel in distress.

Then he locks eyes with her, and she swears that her heart stops beating.

How could she ever think that Finn was her true love? He is too simple for her tastes, too easy going for her obnoxiousness. She needs someone who is completely like her, someone who can understand her desires and needs and fulfil them the best they can. Finn cannot do that.

Neither could he support her fully as she pursues her dreams in New York. His dreams are not to have a filled theatre on their feets applauding, he just wants to be happy.

And her craving to be famous will not make him happy. It shall do the opposite.

And as she looks up at Jesse and forces herself to take one breath after another, the realisation finally hits her. He may have broken her heart into a million pieces, but what is life without a little heartbreak? It made her strong, and she cannot deny the chemistry between them no matter how much she tries.

Not every Cinderella got her white knight after all.

But hopefully, she wouldn't be Cinderella but just girl content with being with a man who had broken her heart. She had loved him, after all, and he was a perfect match for her.

A circle peg fitted better in a circle than a square peg anyway.
