Charles was exhausted. Six races with Hank, twelve of Raven's 'stern talking-to's when she tried to trick the other boys, specifically Hank, into doing chores for her, chasing down and putting out all the fires Alex started, climbing up higher and higher to test out Sean's flying, and going to practical war to bring Erik's mind to the point between rage and serenity had left Charles at the point of 'I'm ready to pass out now'. He moved slowly towards his room and fumbled opening the door. Not caring about his usual neatness, that was too tiring, he shrugged out of his clothes. Oh God, I should not have worn all these layers and a button-up today. He thought. Once he was only in his boxers he fell onto his bed.
But today was the greatest day he could ever remember. He had to admit he'd always had feelings for the metal manipulator ever since they'd met. He always had to be careful but when Erik had been able to turn the satellite, he'd felt such a surge of pride, ecstasy, and love for the man Erik could sense it. He looked at him strangely and cocked his head. Charles felt the sudden impulse to run and tried to stutter his way out but Erik cupped his cheek and crashed their lips together. Charles accidentally let loose every feeling he had for Erik and was surprised to find his feelings mirrored in the other man. They kissed until the need for air arose but when Charles went to deal with Sean falling, according to Alex, out of a third story window Erik whispered in his ear, "I love you, my sweet boyfriend." Charles had been in such a stupor he hadn't given Alex a true punishment. He just said to never do it again and left it alone. He's made a mental note that if he ever did again, no matter what just happened; he'd give Alex a real punishment.
It may have been a great day and his mind was very alert but his body was anything but. His lights were dimmed, his eyes were closed and his body, even though it wasn't under the covers, was completely ready for sleep, but his mind was too focused on reliving every moment of the kiss. Now knowing what he needed, he put two fingers to his temple and reached out to the constant presence in his mind. Charles? What are you doing? You know very well I'm working. Erik asked sounding slightly exasperated, as it was after eleven o'clock at night. I'm sorry, love, but I must ask a favor. Charles thought. Anything darling. Erik said automatically. I can't sleep. Not without you being here. Charles admitted. Give me five minutes. Erik said and Charles smiled. True to his word, five minutes later Erik came quietly in. He heard a small chuckle and felt himself be lifted from the bed. He let his brow furrow but Erik simply was tucking him underneath the covers. He let himself go lax and felt Erik's kiss against his forehead and sighed. He heard Erik strip out of his clothes and climb onto the mattress.
"Oh love, what would I do without you?" Charles mumbled sleepily, something Erik only barely caught.
"Crash and burn, darling. Now go to sleep." Erik said and Charles nuzzled into Erik's neck. Within moments, the telepath had fallen into a deep sleep. Erik debated leaving, as he still had loads of work to do, but one look at the tranquil sleeping beauty that was Charles and Erik knew in his heart that he wanted to spend every single night of his life like this.
