Takes place during the Katie/Otis conversation during the ep "What Will Define You" after they both revealed that they were dating again. Belongs to Dick Wolf and NBC.
"I uh…I'm sorry," Otis stated. "Not just for you losing Benny, but not really being there for you," he continued.
"What are you talking about?" Katie wondered. He's always been there for me a friend. Sure we lost contact over the years but he's still a good friend, she thought to herself.
"The whole Keeler mess. I was so bent on getting revenge that I didn't stay at your side like I should've. Maybe if I had, you wouldn't have felt like you couldn't come back," Otis replied. Hate that I let her down back then, he mused. Yeah he had Lily now, but there was a part of him that was wondering what could've been.
"Brian," she said. I had no idea he was feeling that way, she thought to herself.
"I mean-I'm not saying that I expect anything out of this. I just felt I had to say it," he told her.
"Thank you," she responded. "But for the record, you have nothing to be sorry for," she assured him. "I know things didn't work out between us, but I've always considered us friends."
"Yeah." Otis smiled at this. Friends. He was good with that.
"I uh…should go see if I can find Kelly."
"Yeah, of course." They smiled at one another and Katie went to find Kelly as Otis went back to work on the ambulance.
