I was sitting in a lounge chair by the pool, comfortably under the shade of an umbrella from the scorching sun. It was rather hot today, and there was nothing to do. Even in my swim trunks, I was sweating. Tohru was seated next to me on her own chair, reading through a magazine. Shigure was in his room, but I didn't care what he was doing. He had somehow convinced us to join him on vacation at a beach house in the middle of nowhere, for no specific reason.

Last time I checked, Kyo was on the roof. I couldn't see him from here, but I was sure he could see me, and it made me self conscious. Tohru didn't seem to notice; she just sat there quietly for once.

Sighing, I turned to Tohru. "What are you reading?"

Tohru looked up and smiled at me. "Oh, just something Shigure recommended," she said. I sweat-dropped. Anything Shigure recommended would be something suggestive or inappropriate. Seeing my expression, Tohru's eyes widened. "No! No, it's nothing like that… hehe…"

I smiled at her.

Then I heard a yell and a splash coming from in front of me, and I jumped and saw a flash of orange hair fall clumsily into the pool. From the roof? Kyo was clumsy…

I glanced at Tohru, who had yelped in surprise, her hand covering her mouth. I stood and walked quickly over to the edge of the pool, peering down into the water to see Kyo's distorted figure squirming under the surface. Why wasn't he surfacing? He was at least fifteen feet out. Tohru had joined me at my side, and I felt a pang of worry. Was he kidding?

Idiot cat.

And then Kyo's body became limp.

"Yuki!" Tohru gasped. "Yuki, you have to do something!"

I looked back at the house, half expecting to see Shigure there in the doorway, perhaps with a camera. And then I dive neatly into the pool.

Blinking, I swim towards Kyo, who is half submerged in the water. His eyes are closed, and he's not moving. I reach out to him and grab his arm, realizing that this is the deep end. Swimming upwards, I shove Kyo up and pull him along with me to the edge. Tohru helps me get him on the ground and I tell her to go get Shigure.

As Tohru disappears, I gently slap Kyo, trying to get him to open his eyes. When he doesn't, I start to panic. Stupid cat! Why did he have to fall?

I grab his shoulders and shake them roughly. "Kyo!" I say. "Kyo kun!"

When Tohru comes back with Shigure, Shigure points at me. "Yuki, don't you know CPR?"

I nod, hesitant. The last thing I want to do is put my lips on the cat's.

I cross my hands and place them on Kyo's chest, and push three times before I blow into Kyo's mouth. With no response, I repeat this, staying longer on his lips. And then the worst happens.

Kyo kisses me.

My eyes widen, and I pull away so fast that Tohru squeaks, and Kyo pretends to cough and pushes himself up, gasping. I stare at him as he shoots me a smirk. I know what that was. It wasn't him waking up.

Tohru didn't notice, but I think Shigure did.

And I think my heart stops when I see him slip $20 to Kyo.

Stupid cat.
