Peter stopped. He was at the edge of the forbidden forest, the rustling trees towering over him. He took one last look back and thought to himself "was it all worth it?" Then, as he passed through the magical barrier that protected Hogwarts, he looked back. He could see the castle in front of him, majestic and proud. He'd spent 7 years in that place, with James and Sirius. 7 years of hell. He had never liked them. They were arrogant, sadistic perfectionists who never ceased to torment others they thought were weaker than them, just to ascend one step in the social ladder. But they had their uses. No one would bully peter if they knew James and Sirius would retaliate. Remus, on the other hand, was a different story. He was cursed from birth, which would be enough to turn anyone bitter. And yet, he was always the opposite, polite and cheery, and intelligent. Shame he hadn't chose a better path, serving the dark lord. And finally, there was Lily Evans. Peter had always nursed a soft spot where she was concerned but who could ever notice him next to the dynamic duo of Potter and Black, brothers of mischief and mayhem? No one, perhaps even less. So as peter turned on the spot he knew his answer.
