Disclaimer: I do not own Doctor Who, Rose, The Doctor, or anything else of any concern (don't sue me!)!

First, this is just really quick and light and everything, and I'm American so I'm not disrespecting us or anything ;)

Anyway, here it is so you can see what I mean!

Rose Tyler sat on one of the railings in the TARDIS, her feet dangling over the edge. "Where are we going?" she asked curiously. She had long since given up suggesting places to go; The Doctor always seemed to come up with much more interesting places on his own.

The Doctor didn't answer for a minute as he pulled some lever or something. Then he grinned and said, "The most intriguing place in the universe."

"Where's that?" Rose asked, trying to see what the levers on the TARDIS said, even though she didn't understand anyway. "A planet?"

"Of course," The Doctor said absently. Then he straightens up and headed for the door. "Yours, in fact. After you."

Rose giggled and skipped towards the door. Even her own planet could be surprising. She had learned not to doubt anything.

However, when she opened the door and stepped out, she was taken aback. Or rather, she wasn't. Staring back at her was a completely ordinary shopping complex, perhaps just blocks from her own house.

The Doctor shut the door of the TARDIS and grinned at her. He could plainly see she was unsure what to make of this, and it seemed to delight him more then anything else. "It's an American shopping complex."

Rise couldn't help but smile anyway. "It's cool ," she admitted. "I haven't been to America much. And I never went shopping."

The Doctor laughed and grabbed her hand, pulling her into the hustle of shoppers. It was really quite remarkable: music, talking, screaming, children, adults, everything seemed to be there. "Where are we?" Rose asked, staring at the floods of people everyplace doing everything imaginable.

"Oh, it doesn't matter," The Doctor said looking positively joyful. "California? Washington maybe?"

It was truly enchanting. Rose spun around, taking it all in rapturously. She had never seen anything like it. "How come it's so-so different?"

"It's an American place full of so many different people," The Doctor explained. "People texting and talking and fighting and experiencing everything you can dream of. They're all so caught up in their own worlds, they don't see it. You're English, and you're just a bit more classy. Less public."

Rose couldn't help but laugh at this. She wouldn't have pictured a place like this like this at all, yet now she was here it was, as The Doctor had said, intriguing.

As someone brushed past her, looking like they'd just been proposed to or something, Rose turned to The Doctor. "Wow," she said. "It's so weird."

"'Course it is," The Doctor said casually. "It's America. What so you expect?"

Before Rose could answer, he pulled her towards a coffee shop. "Americans are also big on coffee," he joked. "Let's not stand out anymore then we have to."

Did you like it? I hope so (that again)!
