Commander Alex Shepard was startled awake by the sound of her cabin door being wrenched open. She leapt to her feet instantly, grabbing her sidearm lying on the bedside table and aimed it at the invading turian.
She had nearly pulled the trigger when she realised it was Garrus.
"What the hell do you think you're doing? You can't just burst in here…." she dropped her weapon on the bed, panting hard. She wiped the sweat that had collected on her brow.
"Shepard, I heard you scream from the third floor."
She frowned and looked confused. "What…. I … I'm sorry I must have…." Her sentence broke off.
Garrus surveyed her quickly. She was shaking uncontrollably and looked more disoriented than he'd ever seen her.
Nightmares, maybe, he mused.
He quickly stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her.
"There, there." He soothed as he felt her melt into him a little.
"I…" she was fumbling with words.
"Don't worry about it." He rocked slightly from side to side.
"How about we get you back into bed, huh?"
He heard her grunt against him and he carefully helped her lie down.
"Thanks, Garrus…." she murmured, her eyes closing before her head hit the pillow.
He didn't answer, but instead swept the hair out of her eyes, before quietly leaving the room.
