When Vincent and Rachel announced their wedding, I was heartbroken. I was jealous. I knew I couldn't have him. I knew he was in love with someone else. I knew it was all wrong to feel this way. But I can't help watching Vincent from afar. All I could do was be happy for the newly wed.

Few months later, Rachel announced she was pregnant with a child. I put on a fake smile as I congratulated both Vincent and Rachel. I continued to help Vincent after the child was born even though my heart continuously throbbed from pain.

The boy, Ciel, has been always shy, but he was especially nervous around me. One day, Vincent invited me to lunch at his place, and Ciel was fidgety as usual.

"Hey, Phantomhive boy," I said to Ciel when I saw him hiding behind the curtains. "Don't get so anxious."

"Wha-! He's scared because you always look angry." Vincent replied Ciel ran to him.

"I'm not angry!"

"I know," said Vincent as he smiled warmly at me. "In fact, you're a very kind and reliable, nice guy, aren't you?"

"… Why all of a sudden…?"

Vincent turned to Ciel and pat his head before answering. "That's why, should anything happen to me, I'm sure you'll help them."

I paused eating my sandwich and stared at him.

"Right?" he asked.

"Is that an order?" I sighed.

"Well, actually more like… A favor, I'd say."

I shook my hands at him in disbelief. "I can't imagine you dying earlier than me."

"Haha. You never know." He stared directly at me and said, "No one, not even God, can tell what will happen to any of us. So… In case, I'm counting on you."

Vincent left it at that. Ciel never warmed up to me even though I tried giving him sweets, so I silently finished my lunch and went back to Germany. I never thought this would be my last conversation with Vincent Phantomhive, the Great Aristocrat of Evil.
