Satsuki cheerfully walked down into the town of New Jersey, California, the wind not blowing her hair around because there wasn't any wind and the place was a dump. Momoko was following right behind her, doing that Momoko thing where she was constantly looking for an opportune moment to bring up the topic of her faith, and how it would be so nice for Satsuki to finally accept Jesus into her heart.
They were going to the hair salon, but not the hair salon where Satsuki had completely trashed the place for no good reason. Satsuki had finally decided, after spending a year with only Hajime and Leo for male company, that she really needed to ditch the pleat. She really needed to ditch her friends, too, but first she had to find replacements for them.
"This time, I'm finally going to look pretty, and not like Misty's weird brunette cousin," Satsuki said.
Momoko shook her head. "Now, now, Satsuki. It's not right for girls to be placing their vanity and physical desires before-"
"Shut up. I told you I'd go to youth group with you after this, alright?"
"I hadn't forgotten. Good Christians always keep their promises!"
Spending another few hours with Momoko was a harsh price to pay for getting access to the salon, but it was worth it. Somehow, whenever Satsuki picked out a place, she would end up looking even worse then before. It seemed she was cursed with a bad fashion sense, and only Momoko could free her from it.
Meanwhile, Leo and Hajime were doing something with a computer that was probably stupid.
"What are you doing, Leo?" Hajime asked.
"I'm downloading midi files," Leo said.
"What are those?"
"Here, let me show you!"
The silence previously in the room suddenly evaporated as the horrible attempt by a computer program to mimic Ghost Stories' already tepid soundtrack filled the room.
"What the fuck, Leo."
Later, Satsuki was struggling to keep her higher brain functions active as Momoko droned on and on about... things. She didn't even have the chance to look at her new haircut before she had been shoved out the door and into the company of a bunch of incredibly boring morons. Which honestly wasn't that different from most of her life.
"Hey, Momoko, I was wondering," Satsuki said. "How exactly did my mother did my mother possess you all those times when we were fighting ghosts, anyway? Was that ever explained?"
"Not even the Japanese script had an answer to that," Momoko said. "It was a total cop out!"
"Do we at least know why she only possessed you in particular?"
"She said it was because I was hot."
"Well, that sounds like mom."
