I own nothing

Kenshin sighed again after being woke up by a sudden coughing fit.

Last night, before going to bed, Kenshin started to feel a little under the weather. He waved it off, thinking that he just had a very long day and he was tired. Later that night, he was forced to wake up because of a coughing fit. Not concerned, Kenshin waved it off again. But that cough kept on waking him up throughout the night. It was about the fifth time the cough disturbed his sleep, he began to wonder if he was getting sick.

Kenshin rubbed his eyes and sat up. The sun was just starting to rise.

"I might as well get up," he muttered to himself.

Kenshin got out of bed and rolled his futon up, placing it in the corner of his room. Then, he changed into his day clothes and started on breakfast. While making breakfast, Kenshin stifled his cough so he didn't wake up or worry anyone, which was fairly difficult. Soon, he was finished with breakfast and was setting it out when Kaoru and Yahiko came in.

"It looks great Kenshin!" exclaimed Yahiko with a smile, sitting down and starting to eat his food.

"Yes it does," said Kaoru, also with a smile. "Thank you Kenshin."

She sat down as well and began to eat. Kenshin pick up one of the rice balls and began to nimble on it, his appetite virtually nonexistent.

'I need to try to eat,' he thought. 'Miss Kaoru will worry if I don't.'

Well, Kaoru was already worried. She had watched him pick up the rice ball with no enthusiasm. Very unusual for Kenshin to not want to eat the food that is put in front of him.

"Kenshin, are you alright?" Kaoru asked, giving him a concern look. "You're not eating."

Kenshin looked at the food in his hand. Then, he looked at her, giving her a smile.

"I'm just feeling a little unwell, that I am," said Kenshin. "It's nothing to worry about."

Kaoru quickly was by his side and immediately was trying to feel his forehead. Kenshin successfully invaded her. She was getting annoyed with him.

"Kenshin!" the black haired woman shouted. "Stay still!"

The older man winced and did what he was commanded. She placed her hand on his forehead and jerked back in shock.

"You have a fever!" she exclaimed.

Yahiko looked over at Kenshin with a concern look.

"How long have you been feeling like this?" Kaoru asked him.

Kenshin was quiet for a moment before shrugging.

"Since this morning," he told her. "Maybe last night."

'Since last night?!' Kaoru thought. 'Why didn't he say anything?!'

"Well, you are going back to bed," she said, pointing out the door.

Kenshin started, giving her an incredulous look.

"But Miss Kaoru," he protested, "the laundry needs to be done and I need to…"

Kaoru gave him the look and pointed to the door.

"Bed, Kenshin Himura," she ordered. "Now."

Kenshin winced and got up to do what was asked of him. Once he was gone, Kaoru turned to Yahiko.

"Go get Miss Megumi and tell her that Kenshin is sick," she ordered the black haired boy.

Yahiko, who had watched the whole thing with concern, turned to her and nodded. He was about to leave when he turned around and looked at her.

"Will Kenshin be alright?" he asked.

Kaoru gave him a reassuring smile.

"He'll be just fine," she told him. "He just needs to get some rest."

Yahiko nodded and went out to fetch the doctor.
