The 2nd Call.
Sarah arrived back in town after a ten month absence; she made one phone call and wanted to make a second but didn't have enough change. Would everything have changed if she had made the second call?
A/N: Just my thoughts about the timing of Beth's suicide and how if Sarah had made that second call they wouldn't have made eye contact and Sarah wouldn't have witnessed Beth's death or stolen her bag. Obviously if this happened Sarah's introduction to her clone sisters may never have happened and there would be no show, but it was just a thought I had. Also, I have no connection with the show and all respective copyrights are theirs and no infringements are intended.
"Huxley station! Huxley station next stop," the conductor announced as he walked through the carriage. Sarah had been dozing; the conductor's announcement had jolted her awake.
"Shit!" Sarah grabbed her bag and hurried off the train. It had been over ten months since she left town on one of her latest scams. She walked to the pay phone and deposited enough coins for a call.
A sermon from Mrs. S was the last thing she wanted to hear but she wanted to see her daughter; ten months was too long.
Mrs. S was a nickname for Sarah's foster mother who also looked after Sarah's daughter Kira when Sarah was away. The coins dropped as the call was answered.
"Hello?"
"It's me, I'm back in town."
"Well, thanks for letting me know" Siobhan said sarcastically.
"I want to see Kira." "Oh you do, do you?" I don't hear from you for almost a year and you turn up out of the blue and think you have the right to see her?"
"She's my daughter!" "Yes, well maybe if you start acting like her mother I'll let you see her." Siobhan hung up the phone abruptly in Sarah's ear.
"Bitch!" Sarah felt in her pockets for some more change; she had just enough to call Felix her foster brother. She dialed his number and when he answered she said,
"Fe, it's me, I'm back in town."
"Well blow me down! What brings you back home?"
"I'll tell you when I see you, can we meet somewhere?"
"Yeah, give me half an hour and I'll see you at Bobbies." In the background there was a screeching of brakes and a lot of excited voices shouting.
"What's that noise? Where are you?" Felix asked.
"I'm at the station." Sarah looked over her shoulder and saw people running towards and looking under the stopped train.
"I don't know; some problem. Okay, I'll see you soon Fe."
"See you then sis."
Sarah picked up her bag and walked along the platform. Curiosity made her turn her head as she walked
past the scene. It looked like someone had jumped or fallen in front of the train. She drew in a breath,
"Oooh nasty" she thought. The jumper's body was facing away from Sarah's view so she didn't see their
face. "Just as well she thought; don't want that image in my mind" Sarah continued walking and exited
the station, she turned left and headed towards Bobbie's Bar as sirens sounded and police cars and
ambulances pulled up behind her.
The End.
