I do not own Red vs Blue. It belongs to RoosterTeeth.
"Are you proud of what you've become?"
"You think you're any better, Carolina?"
He sat outside the Blue Base of Valhalla, wondering how the hell he got into an argument with a woman who returned from her death. It was the first time he's seen her in three or four years. And when he finally does see her, they have an argument over who is more sick and twisted. Rhode brought up the fact that she would do anything to see Texas fall, and would go as far as risking the life of a teammate. Carolina brought up the fact that he brutally attacked his sister and another Freelancer for their AI.
"That was all because of Zeta! I couldn't control that!"
Rhode would never tell her the immense pain and agony Zeta had brought upon him. She had gone as far as to control him and to carve the Greek "Ζ" into his back. And because he wouldn't explain, he didn't have any points or claims to argue hers with.
"Oh really? If Zeta was so fucking painful, then prove it!"
He stuttered and tried to come up with something that wouldn't give it away.
"I uh, uhm. Uhh-"
"Exactly! Who's the goddamn monster now?"
He glared at her through his visor. Zeta shrieked in the back of his head.
'Ζ' You're just going to let her speak negative about us? Does she know WHO WE ARE? None shall speak like that in our presence. Make her beg on her knees for mercy before us. 'Z'
I can't do that Zeta. It's Carolina. I would never try to kill her.
'Z' After the things she just said? Come on! Let your fury burn wildly! Strike her down! You are not her fool. 'Z'
His anger burned in his eyes, shining through his visor. Parts of his cyan and blue armor glowed a deep red that matched the light that shone from his eyes. His vision pierced through Carolina. She could feel the rage emitting from him.
"A monster? MONSTER?! Do you know who we are, Agent Carolina? Oh, we are much worse than your definition of MONSTER. If he didn't regain control of himself after I controlled him, we would have murdered all of the Freelancers, including the Meta! That one that calls himself 'The Great Savior!' Well, we are The Great Savior! We are the Hunter!"
Carolina stepped back in horror. The red aura faded out around Rhode. He looked over to see the Reds and Blues hiding behind rocks, also watching in horror. He was glad they never saw what he was capable of. He unlocked the mechanism on his helmet as it made the sound of air being released. He pulled it off and angrily shoved it into the hands of Carolina, and walked off.
In the end they were both monsters as much as the rest of the Freelancers.
