Narcissus's Prayer
To walk along side a pleasant blue stream
Will reveal beauty, or so it would seem
But beauty is relative to the eye
And none and nothing is more so than I
Alas! There is no beauty for me here
Or beauty anywhere so do I fear
But that is my curse, my burden to bare
My honest gift that others cannot share
'Tis only do to my selfless nature
That these lives of grey, I do work to cure
With great attention and a bit of time
My beauty and I can make grey sublime
And yet this life of beauty is lonely
A truth those less inclined cannot see
I sit up high above the folks of old
On a pedestal of ivory and gold
Strutting so high above the common man
With no single maiden who is not a fan
I want a goddess or woman as fair
For which I could have a great love to share
Not a love to fall to my feet with praise
Or mutter with a stutter in a daze
Someone as bright and glorious as I
Someone who is strong with no need to lie
Yet I could quest around the world so wide
And never shall I find my perfect bride
So shall I give to the world my beauty
And let it out for all the world to see
