A/N: This is just a one shot I wrote for a friend as part of her Valentine's Day present. Be kind, please, I beta-ed it but it was just a quick thing and the Trek universe is still kinda new to me (though I'm learning!)
And McCoy/Chekov needs more love!!!
Chekov glanced over the stack of PADDs in his arms. Seeing there was no one in the hall, he breathed a sigh of relief and quickened his pace. Though light, the PADDs obscured his view. He made a note to kick Hikura in the shin for this.
Suddenly, his foot hooked on some unseen obstacle. He tumbled to the ground as PADDs flew though the air. His head smacked the sharp corner of one, sending a shock wave of pain though his head.
"блин!"
Groaning, Chekov glanced behind him. Wires stuck up through the floor, where some Engineer had been working.
"You all right?"
From down the hall Dr. McCoy jogged over. He stopped and knelt down next to the young Russian.
"Yes," Chekov sputtered, "I should be, Doktor. I just tripped."
McCoy looked at him with a brow raised. He touched his two fingers against Chekov's forehead. The blond flinched. When McCoy held up his fingers there was blood on them.
"Ax Боже."
"Um-hum," the doctor mumbled. Silently, he opened his medical bag and fished around. Then he blotted the wound with some gauze.
"Pain?" he asked.
"Uh, just a little…" Chekov looked at the bag again. "Are you going somewhere?"
"Ya, Jim wants me to go down with him on the planet, of course. Probably gonna get us killed," McCoy muttered, getting a band-aid ready. "Close your eyes."
"Huh?"
"Antiseptic spray," the doctor waved the bottle in the air. Chekov flushed and nodded.
There was the sensation of coolness across his forehead followed by the pain completely dissipating.
"Are you going to be okay?" Chekov asked.
"On the mission? Most likely. Jim always gets us 'nearly' killed, never actually killed."
There was a light pressure as McCoy put the band-aid on. Then there was the warm feeling of lips against his own. Chekov's eyes flew open. McCoy pulled away and gave a lopsided smile.
"Besides, if I were gone, there'd be no one to take care of you."
