The Night That He Died

AN: This five-Drabble series is written from Marty's point of view.

*Endless Night*

The night that I killed Victor seemed like an endless night. I had gone there to confront him about the information that we both knew was on the disc. He knew that the information I held would destroy any and every relationship that he had ever built. He had known for years that he wasn't really Todd Manning, but be lied to everybody. He lied to Vicky, Starr, Dani, Jack, Tea, Blair and most of all me. He let me believe that I had fallen in love with one of my rapists when he knew all along that it wasn't true.

I wanted revenge for his lies and betrayle. He let me believe that Patrick had been alive so that he could deliver me into his demented mother's hands. It took me months to escape, but now that I did, I wanted revenge.

I hadn't planned on shooting him, I had only brought the gun with me as protection, but he goaded me and mocked me for loving Todd until I couldn't see anything but red. I begged him to shut up, but he wouldn't stop torturing me until I pulled the trigger and he fell to the floor.

*Crawl*

I watched as he crawled on the floor towards the exit as the blood seeped out of him and he begged for help. I felt frozen, I couldn't move and then he stopped crawling and everything had become silent. I knew in that moment that I had killed him.

*Invisible*

"What did you do?" Todd asked me as he stepped out of the dark shadows of the room into the light. He had been invisible and silent while I killed Victor and now he had the means and the opportunity to destroy me for good.

"I killed Victor. What are you going to do?" I asked.

*Wealth*

"I'm going to protect you." Todd said as he pulled the gun out of my hands. "We don't have much time, Tea could be home any minute."

He walked over to Victor's safe and grabbed as much cash as he could. "I want you to take this money and I want you to dissapear," Todd said as he shoved Victor's wealth into my hands. "Don't try and contact me and no matter what you hear, don't come back to Llanview until you hear from me. I'll contact you as soon as I can."

"Why are you helping me?" I asked.

"Because I owe you, now get out of here while you still can."

*Power*

I had gone back to Ireland and had been staying with some friends that I trusted. Everyday I waited for Todd's word that I could go back home. I had heard that he had received all of Victor's wealth when he died and the judge had granted that the money and power be returned to it's rightful owner.

Months afterwards he sent me a telegram informing me that Victor's case had been solved and that it was safe for me to return. He had bought my freedom, by convincing Irene to take the wrap. I didn't know how he was able to convince her to confess or what power he seemed to have over her, all I knew was that I could go home although I was certain that I would never be free of Victor or the memories of the night that he died.
