Disclaimer: Nope, I don't own them, nope I'm not making a profit, but surely a girl can dream that her favourite characters might actually interest once in a while?

This is my first ever Tekken fic, though frankly the possibility for writing them is endless so it maybe the first of many if it ends up being any good, please R+R, constructive criticism welcome (or if you'd like to beta for me that's cool too!) but please no flamers, my poor heart can't take it 

Chapter one

"I've faced the slow, the old and the unready to get this far, but to get through THIS I'll need the support of every last spirit" Julia Chang whispered to herself, before bowing in contemplation of the task that now faced her.

The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 was nearing its climax. Julia felt lucky to have made it this far, as the draw had always favoured her. When she had initially drawn the feisty Brazilian Capoeira master Christie Monteiro in round one, she had begun to doubt herself, but her strength and preparation shone through, and latter clashes against the great master Wang, the egomaniacal brut Craig Marduk and stalker-cum-sumo wrestler Ganryu had all been one-sided, but her confidence was none-the-less still on the wane.

After shaking herself awake, Julia adopted her customary on-guard stance and attempted some final mental preparations, but somehow, standing face to face with the tall, lean, flash of fire from the Koran military dissolved her strategy.

"He's too quick, too strong, too…he wants it too much" flashed through her mind on a loop. She couldn't decide whether his eyes burned with contempt, aggression or just pure disinterest, he didn't look focused but Julia was already prepared for a heavy beating as her concentration and form disappeared.

In a split second, as he approached, Julia's expression turned to fear, her arms to jelly and she desperately, desperately wanted to bale! But it was too late for that, and Julia's survival instinct took over. Maybe she couldn't win without focus but at least she could stay in one piece. She span, narrowly avoiding a high kick, into a low sweep, catching Hwoarang's ankle, but not putting him off guard. Then it started. Julia's inability to get close enough to score a hit cost her. A barrage of stinging punches, followed by some mind bogglingly fast-crunching mid-kicks left Julia lying face down on the concrete waiting for that final, rude-boy blow that would finish her.

Fear had always been Julia's friend, she knew she was fighting for good, and that even in defeat her spirit guide was always with her, fear was something she had no need of. But now she couldn't move and she couldn't speak.

"Just get up, accept defeat graciously and walk away," Her mind commanded, but her body wouldn't move.

Hwoarang kneeled over her for a few seconds, his glare burning right into her. The he grabbed her plaits and forced her head up so she was looking straight at him.

"Get up little girl, I came here for a fight, not to beat a whimpering child," he uttered coldly, all the time staring right into her eyes.

"Sir…" She started cautiously,

"You beat me fair and square, it was a Tae Kwon doe master class! Good luck for the final"

"The FINAL!" Growled Hwoarang, pulling Julia farther off the ground, before abruptly dropping her to the floor.

"The final isn't my concern, Kazama is the only reason I'm here, his life will be mine at last!"

Julia turned her head to see the Korean flash her a smirk and stroll off, with heavy metal blaring from his headphones.
