Prompt: Itchy Back

Besides him, Lindsay looked into a microscope, examining a fiber. Her eyes were focused on the instrument, but her hand was behind her, stretching and she was almost…hitting her back.

"Hey, Montana, what's that about?" he asked, gesturing to her motions.

"What?" she said, pulling away, "What are you talking about?"

She was still smacking at her back.

"Are you congratulating yourself or something?" he asked.

"Oh," she said, "I uh," she blushed a little, "I have an itch. I can't quite…get to it."

"Why didn't you just say so?" he said, immediately reaching over to scratch her back. He moved down to the spot she was trying to get to, "Here?" he asked as his fingers moved over her.

Her entire body stiffened up and suddenly he realized what he was doing. He was acting the way he used to….before.

He couldn't do that now.

He pulled his hand away, "I…"

"Thanks," she said, before he could finish his thought, "It doesn't itch anymore."

She turned back to her fiber and he nodded, almost to himself, "Glad to help."
