Remember Me
I do not Criminal Minds in any way.
A/N - I've been watching "Coco" a lot and this popped into my mind.
Spencer opened his eyes and all he could see was a bright light. A warm feeling enveloped his whole body.
"Oh, you're a pretty one, aren't you?" he heard a feminine voice say, "It's not every day that I get a pretty one".
Spencer sat up and realized he was in a field somewhere. Last he checked, he was being held in a shed by a homicidal maniac with multiple personalities. He glanced to his left and saw a brunette girl with blue eyes sitting next to him. "Um…hi", he said, "You wouldn't happen to know where we are would you?"
"Welcome to Limbo. My name is Elizabeth Masters and I will be your guide for this evening", she said.
"Dr. Spencer Reid. I'm sorry, did you say limbo?"
"Yep. The place where souls go when the universe or God or whatever doesn't know what to do with them. You're either important or you're stuck like me".
"You're stuck here? Why?"
"Been in a coma for four years. I don't have any family and I really don't want to die alone. I keep hoping that someone will show up and tell me it's okay to let go. I want someone to be there".
"I don't know how or when I will get back, but if I do, I promise that I'll find you".
"Thanks Spencer, but tons of people have promised that and I'm still here".
"I rarely break my promises".
"Promise that no matter what happens, you'll remember me?"
"I promise".
Spencer entered the hospital and walked up to the receptionist. "Hi, I'm looking for Elizabeth Masters", he said.
"Oh, she's up on the third floor", she said, "Here's her room number".
"Thank you", he said. Spencer took the elevator up to the third floor which happened to be the ICU. He looked down at the piece of paper the receptionist had handed him and made his way to Elizabeth's room.
She looked exactly like she had in Limbo, except there she was full of life. Her skin was a healthy pink and her hair was full and silky. Here, she looked like death.
Spencer sat down next to her bed and took her hand in his. "Hey Beth. It's me, Spencer. I…uh…made it out alive obviously. I came here to make good on my promise. I'm here. It's okay. Let go", he told her. He leaned forward and kissed her forehead. He continued to hold her hand as her heart slowed down and finally stopped.
A nurse walked in and shut off the machines. "We all knew it was going to happen eventually, but we always hoped for a miracle", she said.
Spencer knew that she would be happier where she was going and he only hoped that he would see her again.
"C'mon Reid. Keep your eyes open!" Luke said, trying to stop the blood pouring out of Spencer's chest.
"It's okay", Spencer breathed.
"Spence, don't do this", JJ begged.
Spencer's eyes closed. When he opened them again, he heard, "PRETTY BOY!"
Elizabeth's body collided with his. "Oh my god! You're here! I'm so sorry, but you're here!" she said excitedly.
"Beth, Beth, calm down", he said, putting his hands on her shoulders to keep her from bouncing up and down.
"Oh! Someone's been waiting for you! C'mon!" She grabbed his hand and dragged him out of the field to a library. She led him to the back where he saw a very familiar woman with auburn hair.
"Meave?" he asked.
Meave stood up and turned around. "Spencer", she said.
Spencer walked forward and wrapped his arms around her. "I've missed you so much", he told her.
"Beth kept me company while we waited", Meave said, "I can see why you liked her so much".
"I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Genius. May you live long and prosper!" Elizabeth said, "Bye lovebirds!" Elizabeth bounced away, leaving Spencer shaking his head.
I know it's short, but this is all I got right now. It's like 11:30 at night here.
