The Sound of Peace

Lucario closed his eyes, just listening to the sound of golbat wings in the cave and footsteps of the heavier rock type pokemon on the stone. It was a grey constancy, like the light hum that was always in the air: those singing pidgey and starly, the slightly louder but rarer squawks from the pidgeotto and staraptor and the floating Skiploom…

But so long as the Onix and Steelix weren't bellowing in rage and thrashing against the walls and were, content, burrowing more tunnels into the earth, and the Graveller walked on the ground, making it tremble and producing that tap-tap-thud sound and the golbat were flying happily, far above the rest… That was the sounds of peace and tranquillity, the sound he heard day after day as he trained with his master in the depths of Iron Island. It was when the quiet spell was broken by roars and shrieks and stone against stone crashing and raising a din that he had to open his eyes and search for some sort of source…

Because that wasn't the sound of peace. That was discomfort, terror, something going somewhere wrong.
