Prologue~
I peeked an eye open, and extended my tiny hand out in front of me. I waited until I felt the heat of the warm body that fell asleep next to me, but it never came. My eyes sprung open as I jolted out of bed.
"Sasu?" I whispered in a panic. When I got no reply, I jumped out of bed and threw my slippers on in a rush. Just the mere thought of being without Sasuke made tears spring into my eyes. I rubbed them away, but I knew they'd return. I shook off the empty feeling and ran out of my room, dashing down the hallway and going to the only place Sasuke could be: the balcony. I pushed my feet faster- almost tripping before I finally reached the giant, glass doors that led to the tall ledge that hung off the side of the Uzamaki Mansion. To my relief, Sasuke was still there. My heart sank when I saw he had a bang flung over his shoulder and a rope dangling off the side of the balcony wall.
"Sasu… why are you leaving me…?" I whispered, barely audible. Sasuke spun around and dropped his bag, rushing up besides me and setting a warm hand on my shoulder.
"Naruto… it'll all be ok…" I saw a distant look in his eyes that I had never seen before. Something wasn't right. "Just go back to bed, ok? You're grandmother will get worried-"
"I don't care!" I shouted, clenching my small fists, "You promised you'd never leave me! You promised you would stay here forever! And now you're leaving, like all the others! You lied!" I wiped my eyes, angry at myself for crying.
"Naruto… listen to me…" Sasuke whispered, running his thumb across my damp cheek. I sniffed and slowly lifted my head up to face him. He smiled softly, "I'm not leaving you. I'll never leave you, I can't leave you. I'll always be here."
I shook my head, "You're still lying! If you're not leaving, then why do you have that bag and rope?"
"You know what I mean, dobe. I'll always be right here," Sasuke poked my chest, right above my heart. He grinned at me, and I couldn't help but grin back. His grin grew wider, "That's my boy." He planted a small kiss on my cheek, a small gesture, but it sent sparks throughout my entire body, and caused my face to turn bright red.
I swallowed.
No… don't leave… you can't leave! I need you!
When he pulled away, at first he chuckled at my shocked expression, then it suddenly fell. We both stared at each other wide-eyed before he ripped himself away from me. He muttered something before gripping the rope tightly and throwing the bag back over his shoulder. My heart beat rapidly in my chest as tears threatened to fall again.
NO!
I was too frozen in terror at the thought of being without him that all I could do was tug on the bottom of his long, black coat. Our eyes met, and I shook my head numbly. Tears streamed down the sides of my face as he bit his lip and said, "I'm sorry, Naruto…"
With that, he was gone.
And ten years later, he's still gone.
Thanks for reading! So I'm planning to turn this into a darker fic, yet it will still have some humor (and smex, of course ;3)
BTW, this fic is set in the 1700's in Europe. So yes, long, long ago x'D
I'm not going to say anything more because I know I'll spoil something! lol, review! :3
