"So he asked for something that would enable him to go forth from that place without being followed by Death. And Death, most unwillingly, handed over his own Cloak of Invisibility."
The Tales of Beedle the Bard, The Tale of the Three Brothers, page 91, JK Rowling.

The youngest brother stands quietly in front of Death, waiting for a reply, or an item to his request. His brothers are a little ways away, talking excitedly and remarking on each others gifts.

Death sighs, and answers Ignotus' unasked question.

"Yes, I have something of the sort, but do you really wish for this item? I could make you something grander of course, anything your heart desires."

At these words, Antioch issues a loud bang from his wand, and Cadmus' eyebrows have been burnt off his forehead. Both yell, Antioch from laughter, Cadmus from anger, and Ignotus answers quietly.

"No, I wish for the same as before. If you can make something as grand as my brothers wand, surely you can make an item such as this."

Death nods in agreement, but doesn't make any move. Ignotus makes a little coughing noise in the back of his throat, and they watch the two elder brothers fight for a few minutes, the smell of burning hair wafting in the air. Cadmus and Antioch are rolling around on the ground, beating each other fiercely, wands forgotten on the ground.

Admist the yells and shouts, Death sighs once more, and reaches into the folds of his cloak and hands Ignotus his Invisibility Cloak. Just as Ignotus goes to grab the Cloak, Death pulls his hand back and asks for the last time, "Is this what you truly wish?"

Ignotus quickly jerks the silvery fabric out of Death's hand, slightly impatient, and answers the same as before. "Yes."

Death leaves the trio of men, vanishing into the mist. Meanwhile the brothers, two of which looking dishevelled and bloody, the third, happy and proud, set off to new adventures.
