"I do love you. Clearly, you don't love you as much as I do or you would put this shirt on and you would dance with me." Brittany quickly walked away from the brunette and all Santana could do was watch the one person she never wanted to hurt slip away. She unfolded the shirt slowly and looked at it again, her heart beating loudly. LEBANESE stared back at her, bold black words emblazoned on the fitted tee. She knew what she had to do in order to bring Brittany back to her, but she wasn't sure she was ready. She was still unsure of herself, still confused about those nagging hidden feelings she had whenever she was around her favorite blonde friend.
Santana walked into the girls restroom and locked herself in a stall. Her mind reeled and she could barely hold back the tears that suddenly threatened to ruin her flawless makeup. She took a deep, ragged breath and pulled her BITCH shirt off, discarding it in the small metal trashcan. She needed to leave that part of her behind for now to show Brittany that she could change, would change, for her… and for herself.
The Latina slipped Brittany's shirt on and looked down. LEBANESE glared at her, threateningly from her chest. She didn't know if she could do this. All the dreams she used to have for herself- the perfect rich husband, the 2.5 kids, the dream house… what will people think? What if they talk about her and not out of fear or respect? What if… No. No more what ifs. Focus on the present. She had to focus on showing Brittany that she could do this and be hers without the constant fear of what everyone else thinks.
Santana unlocked the door and stepped out of the stall, checking herself out in the mirror. With one final deep breath, she held her head high and stepped out into the hallway and towards the auditorium. She heard the rest of the club singing "Born This Way" and wanted to sneak in and watch, knowing that she wasn't ready to get up on the stage and bare her heart out to everyone just yet. It had been hard enough trying to admit it to herself that she was in love with her best friend and had been in love with her since they became close. She had kept her true feelings buried down and in denial for so long that the truth was a hard thing to come by.
She sat down next to Karofsky and watched as the club ran around the stage in a circle, everyone wearing their t-shirts. She found it amusing that some of the club's shirts were rather meaningless compared to some of the bigger issues, but she figured not everyone is struggling with something so confusing and monumental in their lives. Some of them seem to have it so easy. She looked down once more at her LEBANESE shirt, and looked directly at Brittany, hoping that she would see her and notice the small, devastatingly beautiful step Santana had taken.
