You know, in the fairytales, how once they reach happily ever after everything is perfect? All the villains are have been defeated and are gone. Then comes the next generation of the royals. Everyone assumes their lives are perfect, because their parents' have been since 'happily ever after', right? Wrong.
Sure, some of them just worried about being the perfect princess, in perfect gowns, and perfect manners, like Audrey.
Then there were others who didn't worry about anything because they were royal and thought everything was given to them on a silver platter, and everyone else was beneath them. Those, were the ones, like Chad.
Then there were those who just wanted to live out their lives and be as good as they could be, like Doug.
Others like Lonnie, still wanted to live up to their family name, but still while also wanting be their own person.
But then, there was people like Ben. He was the only one in this exact situation. Not that anyone noticed, of course. Why would they when he was under so much pressure to be *perfect?*
And no, he did not mean in just one way or one time period. He was under pressure to be perfect all the time.
At the age of sixteen, he had to run an entire country, make straight A+'s in school, no not A's no A+'s, always be punctual to every single event (meaning he had to be everywhere five minutes early), deal with the council, and so much more.
He was supposed to be as kind, sweet and caring as his mother, while also being as strong, wise and successful as his father.
But, none of that could be true. I mean, his life really is so easy. I mean he is a king, how much easier could his life get right?
He gets to go to all of these fancy balls, meet all of the royals, his mother is the kindest most loving of them all. How hard could his life be?
And that is exactly what everyone thought, but, in truth, the first was what his life was really like.
Just because he had a good life, that didn't necessarily make it an easy one. Sure, he didn't have the Evil Queen, or Jafar or Cruella or Maleficent for a parent. Sure, he wasn't living up to the evil villains' legacy.
But, he was trying to live of up to his parents legacy, the poster parents for goodness, while at the same time, trying to live his own legacy.
That stress can weigh heavily on people, especially those who couldn't release any of it. If he tried, he was just told he was being over dramatic, or that it was just a bad day. But, in truth, the ones who act the most fine, are usually the ones who are breaking inside.
Ben—well, not just Ben, he was King Benjamin Florian of the United States of Auradon. So, he wasn't just any Ben, he was the Ben. But, he was also, Lady Mal of Auradon's boyfriend.
Which, was the main reason he did not crack and shatter under the pressure of it all.
The main reason he could ever escape the mountains of paperwork that surrounded his every position.
The main reason, he was still standing and, of course, the main reason for many things.
