Dan sat in his office, hands flying across the keyboard as he tried to respond to one more e-mail before turning in for the night. His eyes flitted down to the small clock in the corner of the screen. Two o'clock in the morning. His eyelids began to feel heavy, so he shut down the laptop, and stood from his desk. Sloppily pushing his chair in, he began to ascend the staircase to his shared bedroom. Dan opened the door extremely cautiously, as he knew his boyfriend was a light sleeper. Deciding against changing into pajamas, Dan simply stripped down to his boxers and slid under duvet, next to Phil. Not twenty seconds later, Dan heard a pained whimper. He bolted up, and looked towards Phil, who started thrashing wildly. Dan sprang into action, trying to wake Phil. It took a good while, but Phil finally awoken with a large jolt. "Phil? Baby, are you alright?", Dan inquired with a panicked tone to his usually calm voice. Phil mumbled something that Dan couldn't quite make out before he burst into tears. Dan grabbed the raven-haired boy, and pulled him tightly to his chest. "Shh. It's all okay. Let it out, Philly.", Dan consoled. This, of course, made Phil's body wrack with even bigger sobs. Dan spent the next fifteen minutes whispering into Phil's ear and kissing his cheeks and temples. When Phil calmed, he quickly pressed a kiss to his boyfriend's lips. Dan obliged happily, kissing back. After a few seconds, Phil snuggled back into Dan's chest. "Thank you.", Phil mumbled. "For what?", Dan asked, slightly cocking an eyebrow. "Being there, always." Phil replied, easily. "Lion," Dan wrapped his arms around him, squeezing a bit tighter. "That's what I'm here for." Phil soon fell asleep with a smug little grin on his face. After noting Phil's now sleeping state, Dan nodded off, knowing that Phil was asleep and safe.
