YOU CAN'T KEEP A GOOD DOG DOWN

THE FUTURE ADVENTURES OF DERVLA
Dylan shouted at his dog, who fled into the void.
Dylan was devastated, not just angry and annoyed.
Dervla ran off to the docks and climbed aboard a ship.
It was a pirate vessel, oh Dervla, what a slip!
The evil pirates woke and they all shouted "Hang the hound!"
Her back legs kicked them overboard, the lot of them were drowned.
Her trusty paws upon the wheel, she sailed to a strange land
Where the lovely Princess Rita was in town to hear the band.
"Oh what a lovely dog" she cried, "Sweet dog, come here to me."
Well, Dervla knew a soft touch and ran up excitedly.
Next day a red-eyed Dylan switched on his TV set.
And featured on the main news, Princess Rita and her pet.
"She's found my hound!" cried Dylan, running off to Thomas Cook.
Soon he was on a budget plane, oh how his poor hands shook!
He gained a Palace audience to speak to the Princess,
She entered with bad Dervla on a lead; was this success?
They both looked at each other, and Dylan felt a chill,
For this was love! The lovely princess felt
Exactly the same thrill.
Oh what a happy ending! Dylan and his Princess wed.
Though there won't be a Royal birth while ever Dervla shares their bed.
