Lily Luna Potter sat in the Headmasters office twiddling her thumbs, she'd been summoned here because she was taking advanced Transfiguration and was just waiting for the Headmaster to finish up talking to some misbehaving students. She heard a scornful snort come from her right and she turned with a start, her hand over her chest and her eye's scanning the portraits on the walls until she found a portrait of a main with a hook nose, pale skin and long black hair. He was looking down at her with a haughty expression, "Did you say something Sir?" Lily asked politely, she wasn't sure who this was but she was always well mannered, she'd been raised correctly after all.
The man raised a sardonic eyebrow and narrowed his eyes as he looked at her, "What is it with you Potter's and getting into trouble? Your father and grandfather were just the same, buffoons." The man scoffed and Lily was slightly taken aback but she squared her shoulders and looked up at the man with a proud tilt to her chin, "Excuse me Sir but I think you will find I am here regarding my advanced studies in Transfiguration." The man didn't even change expressions other than a slight drop in his sneer, "Are you now?" He said and he looked her up and down, the harsh look in his eye's dropping slightly, "You look just like her you know.." He said softly and Lily took a step closer.
"My mother? I don't think I do.." She frowned slightly, she'd inherited her hair from her Grandmother Potter and its unruly fashion from her father but a lot of people said she looked like her mother but she didn't see it. "No, not your mother you twit. Your Grandmother.. Other than your eyes.. They're Weasley eyes. You have the same petite size she did at your age and your hair its exactly the same shade, although she used to brush hers." He said bluntly and Lily flushed, her hands flying to her hair in an attempt to flatten it down. That's when it triggered just who she was talking to, "Oh Merlin! You're professor Snape." She breathed out and grinned up at him, standing up on her tip toes in an attempt to see him better. He merely rolled his eyes and crossed his arms across his chest, looking down his nose at her, "A little slow on the uptake although faster than your eldest brother, he must have been trying to beat me at the game of sarcasm for at least half an hour before he figured out who I was. Little brat, exactly like his father that one." Lily laughed and nodded her head, "Oh I know tell me about it. You should see him when he talks to girls, I feel embarrassed FOR him and he uses the cheesiest pick-up lines in the world. Did you know he actually told some girl he could teach her parselmouth but it required him to demonstrate how to move her tongue which would best be done with.. tongue to tongue contact." Lily chuckled and shook her head.
She was about to open her mouth again when the door open and the Headmaster strolled in, whistling what sounded remarkably like "Hammer time". Lily turned back to Professor Snape and gave him a wave, "It was nice to meet you Sir, I hope to see you again." She said with a smile and the only response she got what a snort and he turned away, pretending to be asleep.
The rest of the meeting went along fine and Lily left with a smile on her face, completely missing the found expression Professor Snape directed at the back of her head, "Remarkable isn't she Severus?" The portrait of Albus Dumbledore asked from across the room his ever present twinkle in his eye as he watched Severus with an bemused expression. Snape's attention snapped back to Albus and he scowled, "She is not as unpleasant as her brothers." Is all he said and he turned around and walked out of his portrait leaving a chuckling Albus and a smugly smiling Headmaster McGonagall in his wake.
