16 Cherished Moments of a God of War

( short stories of how a god of war fell in love with

the daughter of the demigod he hated the most )

Chapter One

When my father introduced the 3 month old you in front of the Olympians was when I first saw you. I knew that you are the demigod that the gods have been waiting for a long time; what with their mouths blabbering for a year when they heard your mother is conceiving you. I feel a great power coming from you and I know that you will be a valuable warrior in the future. Unfortunately, you are the daughter of the two demigods I hated the most: Perseus Jackson, a son of Poseidon and Annabeth Chase, a daughter of Athena.

Calypso Zoe Jackson.

You are named after your father's two closest "girl friends".

Zeus proudly told them your name, the other gods whispering it back at themselves. It seems that my father has taken a liking towards you. Who would not be with your blond hair and green eyes?

Aphrodite said that you are so adorable. If I were you, when you saw her within a 10 meter radius, run like Gaea herself is chasing you. Because when Aphrodite adores someone, that someone will be beaten badly. Their minds, at least.

I replied to her that you would surely grow like your blasted annoying father anyway. So your "adorableness" will disappear in only a short time. Let's give you a couple of years or so.

All of the gods and goddesses, minor or major, gave you gifts or blesses you. Except me, that is. No need to further inflate your head with sea water. Zeus blessing is for you to be a master in theatrics and drama. As if that would be a destructive weapon when you are facing a wrath of monsters.

My mother, Hera, gave you the gift of having a wonderful marriage life. Again, you can only use the gift if you will not be eaten by monsters by then. Athena, your grandmother, gave you a gift of having a good future ahead, as long as it involves wisdom.

Gifts and blessings are given to you like they are easy to obtain. The gods tried to impress your parents too much that I got bored and blocked their noises. When I looked at you, I found myself facing the most beautiful pair of eyes I have ever seen. You gave me a smile and the gods surrounding you cannot help but smile. It brought one into mine too.

I quickly hid it and glanced around if anyone noticed. No one has seen me smile before, you see. I only smirk or glare, sometimes grinned. But no smiling. Imagine, a god of war smiling. Truly horrifying.

But I guess someone did notice because I suddenly felt someone looking at me. I turned around and saw the goddess of home and hearth, Hestia, giving me a warm smile and a knowing glance. She's much more terrifying than Aphrodite. I did not like that at all.

So I decided there and there that you will surely pose a big threat to me. Bigger than your father had been.

Avoiding you is self preservation.

It is survival.

It is an animal instinct.

I left before the festivities ended. But as I teleport away, I saw you waving your soft small looking hands in a gesture of a goodbye. You had turned into my direction again, and gave me a hearty laugh that made your emerald eyes sparkle.

Somehow, I predicted that you will grow into a very beautiful woman. Let me tell you that my predictions are always correct. I know that many will vie for your attention. That small thought made me angry, and I do not know why.

Avoiding you is a great idea after all.

Even if I do not want to.
