I do not own Degrassi. Nor the characters Kathleen Mead, Caitlin Ryan, Melanie Brodie, Snake Simpson, Derek Wheeler, Joey Jeremiah.

When are you going to tell him?" Kathleen Mead asked, grabbing her best friend Melanie Brodie's arm. Their friend Caitlin Ryan smiled and rolled her eyes.

"Tell who?" Melanie asked, blinking hard. "I don't know what you're talking about." Kathleen glanced not far from them, and Melanie caught her staring at Snake Simpson. "No! Kathleen... no!"

"Snake!" Kathleen called, grabbing Caitlin's arm as they ducked into Mr Raditch's classroom. Some friends, Melanien thought bitterly.

"Yeah?" Snake called, looking away from his locker. Melanie felt her face heat up.

"Uhmm.. hi," she stammered, realizing she looked like a total fool. Snake had the affect on her.

"Oh, Melanie, hi." Snake said, closing his locker door. Why did he have to look so happy to be talking to her? Like she was the only person in the school. It made it harder for Melanie to stop liking him.

"Are you- uhm- going to see the horror movie this weekend? It looks really good," Melanie knew she was babbling. She didn't even like scary movies.

"Yeah, I'm probably going with Wheels." Snake shrugged, then leaned against his locker. How could he be so comfortable talking to her when she was always on the verge of a panic attack.

"Not Joey?" She didn't really care about Joey, he annoyed her. She was, however, desperate to keep up the conversation.

"Nah. He's being really annoying lately." Snake replied slowly. He hadn't confessed to anybody but Wheels that he hadn't been enjoying Joey's company lately. "Whenever we're together all he can talk about is how we're going to be famous someday."

"But you will be. You guys are really good," Melanie said confidently. She was slowly forgetting how nervous she was around Snake.

"We only know one song," Snake argured.

"It's a good song!" Snake smiled but looked like he didn't believe her.

"So are you going?" He asked, playing with the strap on his bag. Melanie blinked, confused.

"Where?"

"To the movies? This weekend?" Snake smirked and Melanie resisted the urge to slap herself. Of course, that had been her fake excuse to talk to Snake.

"Yeah.. With- uhm... Kathleen," Melanie knew her face was getting red again as she made a mental note to beg Kathleen to go see the movie with her. Just when she's starting to feel comfortable talking to Snake.

"Cool, maybe we can all sit together." Snake glanced down the hall, where Joey and Wheels were walking towards them.

"Really?"Melanie smiled, holding her books close to her was more than she would have hoped for.

"Melanie! Joey L Jeremiah at your service- L for Lover." Joey slid up to them, Wheels not far behind.

"Joey..." Wheels and Snake both groaned. Wheels grabbed his shoulders and pushed him towards the stairs.

"See you at the movies, Melanie." Snake called, following behind his friends. Once she was sure he was out of ear shot, Melanie sqeauled and hurried into the classroom to tell Kathleen and Caitlin the amazing news.
