Okay so in the space of time I have been absent from FF I have been thrown into a crazy life of muddy water, damage control training, fire fighting training and I have had more cuts on my hands than I think I have ever had before. However, in the middle of all this madness I have been picking inspiration up for stories from everywhere including the music I have been listening to. The song I refer to in this story is a rendition of Coldplay's "Clocks" and is by a duo called the 2Cellos featuring Lang Lang. I can't tell you how much I love this song and I urge you to go out and find it on Youtube!
Eric frowned as he picked up the most beautiful sound he had ever heard. It was drifting from a small European looking house nearby. The building looked out of place on the street that belonged to the more wealthy homes of Florida's great and good. But it wasn't the unusual sight of the building that made the Cuban's hair stand up on the back of his neck. No, it was the most amazing rendition of one of his favourite band's hits that made his skin tingle. Floating from the open window of the home was the sound of a cello and a piano perfectly in harmony and both players were obviously blessed with an amazing talent for music. The pianist put a spin on the song that Eric had never heard the likes of before and although you could still tell what the tune was it was almost alien to a person who had heard the song so many times he knew just about every note. At least… Eric thought he did. The pair were playing 'Clocks' by Coldplay and Eric could have stood and listened to the sound all day. He didn't know what drove his next move. Maybe it was the music calling to him, or maybe it was the fact that he had seen the pair of motorbikes that sat gleaming on the front drive before… Whatever it was that drew the young man to knock on the front door and ring the doorbell didn't matter because nothing could have prepared him for the shock that came when Ryan appeared in the doorway.
"Ryan?" Eric asked stunned.
"Yes?" The younger man answered raising one eyebrow in confusion at his work colleague.
"Then who…?" The Cuban stuttered and shook his head. It couldn't have been Ryan that he'd heard… Could it?
"Delko are you okay?" Ryan asked as his friend stared off into space.
"Was that you playing that music?" Eric asked. Ryan frowned, he wasn't expecting that.
"Yes."
"Then who was the pianist?"
"I was the pianist Eric. It was Timmy on the cello."
"Wait? Speed can play? YOU can play? I'm going mad." Eric started to mumble to himself as he started walking away from the young man's doorstep. "Come on Delko pull yourself together this is all a dream."
"Would you like to come in and listen to us play?" Ryan called back to the older man who was starting to worry him slightly. Eric turned, nodded and followed Ryan inside the house like a sheep.
"Who was at the door Ry?" Speed asked as he heard Ryan close the front door.
"Eric." Ryan called back through the house to his lover. "He heard us playing." Ryan led The Cuban into the large Room where Speed was still sat with his instrument leant against him. He was flicking through music sheets and he looked up in confusion when he saw Eric. "I was getting kinda worried." Ryan explained. "He was mumbling to himself." Eric looked at his feet as a warm flush spread across his cheeks. Ryan shook his head and watched as Eric seated himself in the corner of the room. Ryan took a seat at his own instrument. "From the top?" He asked his lover. Speed nodded and set down the music sheets on his stand. Ryan began to tinkle the piano's keys and it was in that moment; when Eric heard those first few bars that he was definitely in the middle of having a very bizarre dream.
