An Almost Perfect St. Patrick's Day
South Park
It was a beautiful, sunny day in South Park Colorado. The sun was shining and the grass was green, and a cool wind was blowing. Many children were playing, and skipping and making merry on that fine day.
A particular group of children were making their way to school. One of the kids had a red poof ball hat, one an orange parka that covered his face, another that was a little on the chubby side, and the other with a green ear-flap hat. Their names were Stan Marsh, Kenny McCormick, Eric Cartman, and Kyle Broflovski.
"Happy Saint Patrick's Day!" called out Stan, to all of the children around.
"Same to you!" they echoed back. Everything was perfect! The day was wonderful, and magical, and nothing could go wrong! All of the boys felt that they had luck on their side, that day.
When all of the children had made it to school their teacher, Mr. Garrison, started his lesson.
"Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Okay children, we have no work to do today, as it's a national holiday. If you'd like you may take a few coloring sheets and make festive pictures!" announced their teacher.
"Hurray!" They cheered. This was a perfect day! No work in school- that was a real treat!
At lunch the boys got food from the school. The school was serving cornbread, potatoes, fish, beans, milk, and juice. It was delicious!
"Man, this Saint Patrick's day is perfect!" exclaimed Kyle, the child with the ear-flap hat. The three others agreed and finished their meal. After 'class' was over, they got on a school bus and made their way home.
So much green surrounded the quiet mountain town, what with the celebratory activities. Green shamrocks, banners, flags, booths, leprechauns, a pot of gold every now and then, and other Irish decorations flooded the town. So many people in South Park loved to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, and all went to the annual parade.
Floats and marching bands and flag people strutted down the streets of town. Eric watched in awe as a giant leprechaun practically exploded, showering gold coins into the audience. The gold coins turned out to be gold covered chocolate, but it was all the same to him. Little Kenny wanted a closer look at the float, so walked out in front of it.
Just as he did, one of the giant exploding leprechauns exploded, and covered Kenny in a mountain of coins. As sad as it is to say, Kenny drowned in the chocolate gold coins. A vague pair of voices could be heard behind the bagpipe music yelling complaints and obscenities about their friends death. Even so, it was a perfect St. Patrick's Day.
Well, almost. Besides the death of the little boy, whom we all know is bound to come back sooner or later, it was perfect. It was an almost perfect St. Patrick's Day.
That it was.
