Sam and Dean were sitting on motel beds researching for their most resent case when Cas appeared in the doorway making Dean double take.
He was holding a box full of kittens.
Dean shook his head, rubbed his eyes and before looking again.
Nope, not hallucinating. There was an angel of the Lord standing in the doorway to his motel room, clutching a cardboard box that had 'Take us home' scrawled on the side.
"Oh God,Cas no," Dean said.
Cas's face crumples and one of the kittens pokes its head out and paws at Cas's tie. "They needed a place to live. And the box said to take them home"
What are we going to do with kittens?" Dean asks.
Cas cradled the box against his chest and leaned over so one of the kittens can rub its face against his cheek. "We are going to love them, Dean."
Dean shook his head as Sam sat on one of the motel beds laughing, but Cas didnt notice, too busy bringing the kittens over to the bed. He ignored the fact that Dean hasn't made it and plops down and set the box down beside him, and the kittens clamored over each other to get out of the box.
"Cas no."
"But Dean," Cas's bottom lip wobbled. "They were living in a box, Dean. A box on the side of the road. They were abandoned, and now they think they have a home. We can't leave them."
"Dean, just let him keep the cats. Bobby will probably take care of them too" chimed in Sam and Cas beamed at him, realizing that with his help it was two against one.
"...Fine. But they're your responsibility OK you have to take care of all of them, well unless Bobby wants to take a couple."
Cas's face lit up like a child's on Christmas, before growing serious. "I will take care of all of them except for one." He said in a serious tone, confusing Dean more than a little. He reached into the box, pulling out a particularly scruffy kitten with green eyes. "This one's yours."
"Cas no I-" Dean tried to protest but was cut off by Cas practically shoving the kitten in his face. He looked at the dirty kittens face for a moment, his heart all ready melting before letting out a sigh. "I guess" he said taking the tiny fuzzball from Cas before smirking , "but that means you have to convince Sam to take the runt."
He chuckled a bit to himself as Cas immediately spun around to badger Sam about his kitten before falling asleep, the kitten curled up under his chin. Maybe he could put up with it, if it made Cas happy anyways.
