"Officer David. Your liaison position at NCIS is being terminated."
With that one sentence Zivas whole world was shattered.
The phrase continued to echo in her head as she drove home to the house she shared with her husband of 3 years, Tony DiNozzo. They had decided to keep their own last names to avoid suspicion.
But Now everything she had was being overthrown. A home, a loving husband and, above all, a feeling of safety. All of that would no longer be there for her after this night. She was being thrown from her safe, American lifestyle back into the world of assassinations and espionage. Where she would have to kill or be killed.
She began to cry as she packed her things.
That was how Tony found her when he came home half an hour later. Kneeling on the floor beside their bed with a half packed suitcase to one side of her with tears flowing down her cheeks.
Crouching beside her he pulled her into a comforting hug. They stayed like that for an hour then began to pack their lives into suitcases and carry bags.
The next day dawned inappropriately cheerfully for the sad event that was to occur that day. For, upon that day, Ziva and her Tony were going to be separated. Perhaps for ever.
At the airportā¦
Ziva clung to Tony, she never wanted to let go. She wouldn't have if Tony hadn't gently removed her hands and pushed her towards the departure gate.
On the airplaneā¦
Every second the airplane was bearing her farther from her beloved Tony and closer to a life she thought she had left behind.
