I wanted Julie to see me. I thought about her not seeing me. But there was something I needed her to know. So when Julie came out I first said I didn't want her to see me. I knew Louise would be with her and I didn't want Louise to know I was her father.
After Louise left Julie saw the star I left on the table.
"Julie." I said quietly.
She looked up and turned to see me.
"Billy?"
"Julie, please don't say anything. I need you to just listen."
She nodded.
"Longin' to tell you, but afraid and shy. I let my golden chances pass me by. Now I've lost you. Soon I will go in the mist of day. And you never will know. How I loved you. How I loved you." I had changed a couple words but I sang her our song.
Tears where streaming down her face.
"I loved you Julie. Know that I loved you."
Julie just looked at me with the longing in her eyes that she always had. She was still so beautiful and I loved her even more.
"I love you Billy. I love you."
"I know you do. I must go now. But I just needed you to know, that while I was alive I loved you. And even now I love you all the more."
I gave her a kiss on the cheek and then left.
