Character: Ron Weasley

Stupid great prat. Insensitive wart. The world's biggest git, although that's my brother Percy. And certainly there are a lot of other insults you could hurl in my face.

So what? You can call me what you want.

The bottom line is I'm Ron bloody Weasley. I don't try to be anybody else.

Of course, there are times when I wish I was a certain Boy Who Lived…

But when you think about it, being Ron Weasley isn't all that bad.

Of course, I have done things I shouldn't have… everything from trying to ask a certain Muggle-born witch to a certain Yule Ball much too late, when that Muggle-born witch had already shacked up with a certain famous Quidditch player (who, by the way, still boils my blood today); to abandoning my friends in their time of need…

And when you add up all the other bad things I've done, I'm sure you'll agree I sound like a pretty bad person.

But there are certain good qualities I have about me.

For example: Remember the Boy Who Lived I talked about? Well, I happen to be his best mate. I've been his best mate ever since the first day we met on the Hogwarts Express on our first year.

Oh, and by the way? That Boy Who Lived is married to my only sister.

Ginny. That's her name. Ginny Weasley, now Ginny Potter.

I'll admit I was quite a bit disgusted at the fact that they were snogging. But in time I've come to realize that my friend Harry would never do anything to hurt my sister. (He'd better not, or I'll kill him!)

I used to be Prefect of Gryffindor House in my fifth year, and everybody was hoping I'd follow in the footsteps of Bill, Charlie, and worst of all, Percy. In the end, however, I chose the path set by George and the late Fred.

I'm a Weasley. I'm a trickster at heart. I'm definitely not dictatorial authority figure material.

Which cannot be said about Percy. He is one of the bossiest, most annoying prats to whom I have ever had the misfortune to be a brother.

Indeed, the odds against a tyrannical idiot like him and a practical joker like me being brothers are highly astronomical.

And yet… and yet… somehow… somehow… Mum and Dad made it happen.

It almost makes me want to kill myself.

Speaking of what I want… what do I want most of all?

I want someone to love me for who I am.

Who I am.

Just me.

And the best part about all this?

Someone already does.

Remember that Muggle-born witch I told you about?

Her name is Hermione Jean Granger, now Hermione Jean Weasley.

She loves me. For who I am. Just me.
